What about saved game data?

They should allow you to keep your harddrive, unless they feel that that may be what's causing the problem.

Well let's not count eggs that have not hatched.

My Xbox360 is still alive and kicking.

Question: As a PS3 owner, I have yet to transfer all of my saved games from my PS1/PS2 memory cards to my PS3's hard drive. How the hell do I do it? Is there some device I have to buy from a retailer?

There's a memory card adapter you need to buy...it's like $25 I think? I'm not sure how much it costs off the top of my head.

Thanx. It figures that Sony wouldn't have memory card outlets on the PS3 so that they could get more of your money.

Also, I was trying to upload some pictures from my digital camera to my PS3, but I don't know which outlet is which. Am I supposed to use the outlets in the front of the system, where the controller outputs are, are is it in the back of the console?

As long as I'm asking questions here, how much is the headset for online speak? Is there a subscription service?

Remember, folks: I've had my PS3 since January, but I just now recently got online access and I have a lot of questions to ask. 😛

Maybe this will clear up a few of your questions:

PROBLEM
I just recently about a week ago had to send my XBOX360 in for repairs. My problem was when I would play any game, in about 5 minutes the screen would become distorted and would freeze. After I would turn off the console and turn it back on got the 3 rings however if I would turn it off and on again the 3 rings would go away until I tried playing a game. You get the idea, basically a cycle.

I called tech support and they asked me a few questions to determine what was really wrong. They asked me what color the power adapter was then they asked me to place a game in and see what happens and then my problem happened. The second thing they told me was to remove the hard drive and try playing a game. Then they told me to remove the game and turn off the console and then back on and bam 3 rings. Thats when tech support said I had a defective unit and made the arrangements to send it back. They sent me a box with everything need inside to ship all paid for by them and when I get the console back I would get a free month of XBL basically for the time it is being fixed which takes 3 to 4 weeks.

What I didn't realize is Microsoft only extended the warranty to 3 years on the 3 red lights. Any other problem is still 1 year.

Anything else you want to know?

That's not my problem though. I've had no problems when playing games and I've had no problems since the one stated earlier.

But I'm still within the 1 year warranty as well so I'm still all good if anything happens.

There are card slots in the front, if you just wanted to take the card out of the camera and stick in a slot. But using a USB cord you should be able to put it in any slot, including where you hook the controller in at.

My only prob with my 360 is that the game FlatOut UC is so stressful im on the verge of throwing my console off a 100 story building and then beating the remains with a large mallet. But knowing Microsoft it will probably survive

I think everything is fine Inner, if you had the the Red Rings of Death, your console would not work.

Have you by any chance checked the manual because I'm pretty sure those rings tell you what exactly is wrong with console and what you forgot to do.

Good Point. I'll be sure to check the manual when I go home this weekend.

I wholeheartedly agree

Depends if its a card use the card slots on the front, if its a USB cable use the inputs on the front

Don't waste money on a headset if you've got broadband, just buy the disc version of Warhawk it comes with a headset. If you don't want to do that any bluetooth or USB headset should work. There is no online subscription service but you will need to register(free) to the PSN to play online and download demos and additional content.

Actually not necessarily - I know a lot of people who've gotten the red ring of death, but their system still worked after they shut it off for a while. It doesn't always mean immediate death.

You described the lights as orange. I'm not so sure that's the red ring of death. It probably has something to do with the console being unable to sync with the controller for one reason or another.

Yeah, I hope so. I'll check the book probably tonight or tomorrow to make sure.

EA was the first to tell Sony to get their act together with the PS3. It appears that now Square Enix is becoming rather not satisfied.

Sony seen needing consistent PS3 strategy
Fri Sep 7, 2007 9:00AM EDT

TOKYO (Reuters) - Sony Corp needs to establish an unwavering marketing strategy for its PlayStation 3 game machine to drive growth of its console business, the head of Japanese videogame publisher Square Enix Co Ltd said.

"Sony first unveiled the PS3 as a mighty home electronics product. Then, after some badgering from game companies, it shifted the position of the console closer to a game machine," Square Enix President Yoichi Wada told reporters on Friday.

"(The future of the PS3) would be tough if its marketing strategy is not straightened up," he said.

Sony's PS3 is packed with cutting-edge technologies such as a Blu-ray high-definition DVD player and a Cell microchip, dubbed "supercomputer on a chip", making it advanced enough to be a hub of living room electronics, a high-speed gateway to the Internet, as well as a game machine.

But on the downside, these state-of-the-art capabilities drove up manufacturing costs. The basic version of the PS3 retails twice as high as Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii.

The high price and scarcity of strong game titles have caused the PS3 to lag far behind the Wii in unit sales since their launches late last year.

In a sign of changing fortunes of the two Japanese video game makers, Nintendo in June became one of Japan's 10 most valuable companies, and in doing so, bumped Sony off the top 10 list.

Shares in Sony, locked in a battle with Nintendo and Microsoft Corp for dominance in the $30 billion video game industry, closed down 1.4 percent at 5,640 yen, while Nintendo fell 1.5 percent to 52,900 yen.

Square Enix, known for such blockbuster game titles as "Dragon Quest" and "Final Fantasy", was up 1.1 percent at 3,750 yen.

Just to let everyone know (as if anybody care), and to not make a pointless thread here (or in the OTF):

I FINALLY GOT MY Wii YESTERDAY woot

I'm moving into next gen as of today!

next: get an HDTV.

I'm looking to buy a budget one, such a 32" Philips, though, if I got money to spare, I'll get a Sony Bravia

any recommendations?

Vizio.

Vizio is indeed a good budget brand. I have a 32" Vizio and love it. Check them out.
