Last-Gen Console Discussions (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

Started by DigiMark007507 pages

I've been true to Nintendo for a long time (NES, N64, Gamecube). But I decided that when I get a console (likely in the spring) it'll be a 360.

Between the graphics, online capabilities, controller ( 👇 to the Wii controller), games, my brother and friend have one, etc. I can't go with the Wii. I already played Twilight Princess. The only Wii-specific game I'll miss is Smash Bros. and maybe Metroid 3. The upcoming Marvel Universe Online was the kicker for me...only 360 and PC, and scattered others that I'd rather have with a normal controller and better graphics.

3rd-party publishers seem to cringe at Nintendo these days, and the PS3 is just too expensive and without anything tantalizing.

It's not the problem with 3rd party developers not creating games, the problem is that 3rd party developers are creating absolute shit, crap ports and generally no good original software for the Wii.

The PS3 has the most problems with 3rd party developers, especially with bad ports.

😂 nice emphasis there. We spotted that the other day at work when putting up posters 😛

Yeah, I couldnt believe that crap when I heard it. 😛

Although if you watch Miyamoto, you may start to understand. 😂

Just kidding, Miyamoto is god. lol

I did have an Gamecube, and I basically traded all my games for cash. Even if I didnt, I still wouldnt play it.

I might be mistaken but is the Wii's lineup worse than Gamecube's lineup at this point in their respective console cycles?

It's still a fun machine, but I rarely play with people as a party machine because all my friends dont play videogames and after thier first playthrough on Wii Sports, they're done. So I'm looking at it as a single player type of guy and well, there's nothing. I havnt played Metriod Prime and I'm going to wait till next summer during the summer drought to play it.

I'll have to plead ignorance on the Gamecube release timetable.

But I will be very surprised if the Wii ends up coming off worse. The fact is that with the entire gamecube back catalogue to choose from I've only found seven or eight games worth playing; the Wii will certainly do better than that. I also feel I am more fortunate than you in being able to use the Wii as a multiplayer tool; quite aside from some of the party games being fun, Wii Sports has not lost its appeal yet, for my crowd.

So I'm not unhappy with it. But the fact remains the majority of my console-based single play this year has been Gamecube and DS. Obviously not a perfect situation.

i been hereing that the ps3 will go down again by november or december. can anyone confirm this?

Doubtful, though they're going to be making a 40GB system, I believe.

The rumor is that they're going to drop to $399 November, in time for the Holiday season.

If they did, would be the best decision Sony could possibly make.

Though, Sony and good decisions don't seem to go together these days. So, expect a price increase.

PS3 Special Edition! Now With Syphillis!

Available this holiday season. Only $800. Supplies may vary, see store for details.

Yeah, I was lucky that I bought a new PC two years after I got the GC so I didnt really mind that the GC didnt have alot of good games.

And that I played Madden to death on the GC. After I bought Madden for the 360, I always wondered why I didnt play that game the same amount of times compared the GC version......

The same feeling I have though. I knew going into the Wii was that I wasnt going to be playing it that much compared to the 360 (which I love to death) and eventually the PC I'm getting but still be happy with it because I cannot miss any Zelda, Mario or first party Nintendo games.

I heard Syphilis it's a killer, better than HALO...

Isuck I know

http://gear.ign.com/articles/824/824183p1.html

so, anyone who understand specs gibberish cares to explain?

does it really mean what it says it does? the end of the 3 red lights?

I seriously doubt it....

... but if it is, shouldnt Microsoft be advertising this?, let people know, make a different casing to tell one from the other (not just HALO editions, and even those dont warrant the new edition)... or are they too ashamed to admit publicly, once more, that they ****ed up?

EDIT: Ive been reading online, and it's so damn funny how people expect MS to make this changes to the 360 they send them for the ring of death failures 😆... like they would!!!

there's even this guy who just receive his 3rd replacement and it appears the Falcon it's not in his unit... he even wishes his 360 brakes again, so he can send it back and they install the new mobo 😆

now... who said the problem wasn't so big? there's proof right there

AstroFan, your avy and sig makes me want to cry. weep

So this Falcon. It's reasonable to assume it'll be in all 360's by the spring??

The Halo ones? Why?

Because they look so fun, and I don't have the game.

myabe, but microsoft would definitly still have existing stocks of their old design. who nows how may they still have, chances are, they'l be slipping those in mixed with the falcon updated units

Gotcha. So I'll just basically be hoping to get lucky. A tad frustrating, but statistical probability still favors me heavily concerning faulty systems and such.

HOLY SHIT!!!!

It really happened, Bungie left MS....

Rumours have been bubbling over the Internet cauldron all week that Bungie would be jumping ship from its corporate masters at Microsoft. The rumours seemed unlikely to be true, as Bungie has been wholly owned by the Microsoft machine since 2000.

Today, though, the unlikely became reality. This morning, Bungie announced it was officially splitting away from Microsoft to become an independent, privately held developer, Bungie LLC. Microsoft will continue to retain a minority stake in Bungie, and continue its long-standing publishing agreement with the company.

"While we are supporting Bungie's desire to return to its independent roots, we will continue to invest in our Halo entertainment property with Bungie and other partners, such as Peter Jackson, on a new interactive series set in the Halo universe," said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios.

Bungie will remain in its current location in Kirkland, Washington, and will retain its primary focus on Microsoft platforms. Harold Ryan, Bungie's studio head, commented, "This... will enable us to expand both creatively and organizationally." Ryan also stated that the studio would continue to work on Halo, and "beyond."

"Bungie is like a shark," said Bungie founder Jason Jones. "We have to keep moving to survive. We have to continually test ourselves, or we might as well be dolphins. Or manatees." (Emphasis in the original.)

Bungie's latest release, Halo 3, has nabbed $300 million in sales in its first week, becoming the fastest-selling video game in history, and is even topping charts in Japan.
