To add to that, you have:

480p/480i
720p/720i
1080p/1080i

Technically 480p is high definition but with such large advancements in technology its kind of difficult to say its high definition at the present time, as when you say high definition one expects excellent video quality whereas 480p falls below the expected video excellence.

On top of that though, you actually need a TV that can display those resolutions. Then on top of that you need the best connection too to achieve best video quality.

Indeedy so, 480p ain't that much, though it's enough.

Certainly there is no prospect of a higher def capable Wii in the forseeable future. The entire design principle of the Wii is away from that kind of thing, and moreover Nintendo don't need it.

If you are going to make a better Wii... what it needs is storage space. Miyamoto says that is what he would improve.

Anyone has already run into storage problems?

Sometimes

480 P is not high def. its enhanced edition. for it to be considered high def it has to be atleast 720i

Yeah, that's true. Was running that stuff off the top of my head, and someone else's argument from eons ago got stuck in there.

Heck from what we've seen from Mario Galaxy all the Wii needs is 480p to show off amazing graphics.

i just answered where i got that info from

Until I hear it from Nintendo or see a link announcing doubt I strongly disbelieve that source you got. A high-def Wii isn't something Nintendo would keep secret.

its no secret they just dont have enough info on it yet of what all its gonna have. for example they didnt say in advance the xbox 360 premium would come with an HDMI port.

Expect Nintendo has made no announcement on it at all. Show me a link and I'll believe. But when Nintendo.com has nothing about it; it makes you wonder.
