Expect Nintendo has made no announcement on it at all. Show me a link and I'll believe. But when Nintendo.com has nothing about it; it makes you wonder.
again i didnt see it on the net. an employee at gamestop told me that. next time u walk in you ask them that about the updated wiis maybe they will tell u the same

Dude my best friend works at gamestop (and Lana works at gamestop if I remember) and neither of them have heard of this. Believe me my friend would have called me up the moment he learned of it to announce it to me just like I called him up the moment Sonic was announced for Brawl.

Yeah, see...as ESB said, I work at Gamestop. And we've never heard any such thing.

The claim is bullshit and someone's just screwing with you. A Wii with DVD playback capability - yeah, that'll probably be coming soon, as something like that's been said that it'll exist for some time now. But a Wii capable of 1080i? Ain't happening.

its no secret they just dont have enough info on it yet of what all its gonna have. for example they didnt say in advance the xbox 360 premium would come with an HDMI port.

Actually, they did. They announced that a good month before those systems were in stores.

i dont know why the employee at gamestop would say that if it wasnt true. im just telling you guys what the dude told me i didnt get it off the net. if i got off the net i would post the link of the site in a sec.

Well, your source is incorrect. That's pretty much the end of that.

He said that to you for laughs. 😉 I can guarantee he's guffawing with all of his gamer buddies right now, all about this guy who now believes there's going to be a HD Wii.

Because messing with gullible people can be a lot of fun. As can joking around.

If we HAD heard about any such thing, you can be sure that I'd've announced it all over here.

The Wii isn't a graphics-geared system anyway. What does it need 1080i for?

most people today have HD tvs they feal more comfortable using 1080 resolution than just 480. and you dont mess with your costomers that way about making up BS for systems do you ?

Okay first off, we had this debate a long time ago and most people do NOT have HDTVs yet. Most people still have regular TVs. The number of people with HDTVs is growing but it will be a long time still until it's become the standard.

And very few games even for the HD-capable systems even go up to 1080i. Most of the ones that do are upscaled from a lower resolution and thus look of worse quality at 1080 than they would at 720.

And of course we do. Everyone realizes that we're joking, though.

ps3 and xbox 360 both support 1080 P and most of the games support them as well. and yes most houses ive been to today there tvs are HD. maybe its not a big town where you live but i see mostly HD tvs now if somone has a game system.

by most people im pretty sure lana meant most people in the whole country, if not the world..if thats the case, then no..the percentage of people without HDs is larger than the percentage of those who do...why? its still fairly new..for example, HD maybe a big thing in your town, but not in the next town over 😬

I know 1 person that has an HDTV, and it's not even used for gaming, it's in my friends parent's room. Everyone else I know has a regular TV for gaming.

gamestop. i asked one of the guys how come wii only supports 480 p. the employee said sometime next spring there gonna start updating them.

Shouldn't take the word of a gamestop employee too seriously, often they get their information from the same places as everyone else (websites) and can often be just as misinformed as anyone else. They by no means are an authority on anything. You actually don't have to know jack shit about games to work at gamestop.

Either the guy you heard this from is flat out lying, as Nintendo has shown not even the slighted interest in going HD with the Wii beyond 480p, or else he read a rumor, and misconstrued it as actual news. Rest assured, new Wiis are not likely at all.

Maybe where you live but where I live I got a regular TV and so does everyone I know. Outside of the store I never seen an HDTV.

I use a regular TV For Gaming where I live there is a mixture of people who have them and who don't I won't Be getting a HDTV For gaming

Same for me, HDTVs is what the stores have, not people.

I never understand why you would want one for games

TV I can just about understand

Do you mean you dont understand why people get an HDTV for gaming?

If thats what you meant, it looks alot better than SDTV's. There is no questions about it.

If you have a Wii, then yeah, HDTV's are not important, but HDTV's for the other two consoles make the graphics look amazing.

HDTV's for regular cable also makes the experience better. I dont know anybody near me who has a choice of watching a sporting event in either HD, or non HD would ever choose the non HD.

Movies are the only I dont really care about seeing in HD. It's more of an price point for that though.

I have a
Xbox 360
PSP
DS
Wii
PS2
Gameboy Advance/SP
Laptop

HDTV is now essential for me. Play a game like Gears of War on a HDTV and you will refuse to go back.
