So I was at Gamestop yesterday to pick up NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams and the store was packed. The UPS guy came and delivered everything that day and someone asked, "any Wiis?" and my friend who works at Gamestop said, "No Wiis." Everyone left the store but me. Everyone there was trying to get a Wii.

😆 That's hilarious.

Incredible.

So apparently, Crysis has been doing... not so good, having sold less than 100,000 units in its first month. Most are contributing this to the fact it requires more than $1500 worth of PC upgrades to play as intended.

So is this overreaching, or the next step in PC gaming?

Well the ridiculous high requirements surely have hurt them a lot, of about 4 people besides myself who looked at Crysis with interest up through development, none have gotten it because of only a few even met the minimum.

That's nothing. He told me this that one day when he was going to open the store in the morning ten people were outside waiting because they heard a rumor that the Gamestop was getting 4 Wiis.

Oh, that's normal.

I've started tracking how many times we get asked about Wiis a day and it usually closes in on 100 by the end of the day.

Wow, it is just unbelievable to comprehend, just plain madness luckily most of us already have our Wii's and are enjoying some great games.

Sorry, but not true. You can play the game. My system is 3 years old (just got it before Doom 3) and I can play the game at minimum and it plays pretty damn well.

As I said before in the Crysis thread, alot of people dont want to play this game until they can play it at high to ultra settings because the graphcis are that good.

But you can still easily play the game if you have a computer that is less than 3 years old. If you dont then you shouldnt be complaining because well, you wont be playing any game that well.

I wouldnt be surprised if Crysis sells alot next year similiar to Half Life when people bought it just to play CS threes years it came out. (which happened to be the highest amount of sales for Valve)

Crysis is on par with most high end PC games. I have more trouble playing Company of Heroes, Bioshock and STALKER (which uses an 3 year old engine) then I did playing the Crysis demo. People just use the highest settings available and how high those requirements are (I dont think most computers can run those settings) but if you look back at most high end games like Doom 3, they sometimes add an graphic settings thats unplayable with the hardware its available.

Another thing is that Crysis at medium settings is still the best looking game out there and will be for the next year or so.

But we don't want to play it on minimum...

You want the most out of the game.

Of course, would never pay for a game otherwise, if I can only play Crysis on minimum I might as well just download it.

Very true, you want your money's worth, you want to play the game to the full same with me, I like games that have many components to them not just the story mode and multiplayer, it adds more to the game and enhances it.

Well, than every game is going to be like that.

You still need an high end system to play COD4, or any other new PC game. What's the difference with Crysis?

Like I said before, the graphics on medium are better than any game out there. I dont see why people are making a big deal about the PC requirements for Crysis. It's on par with most games. The only difference is that it has a setting that cant be played but I said just a second ago, the graphics on medium and high are better than any else there so your are getting what you paid for.

Well it went more like this:
Saw trailers and a whole bunch of pictures.
Got interested.
Continued interested when we kept getting info.
Get to try the demo, realise we can't get the cool graphics advertised.
Decided against getting the game.

And the question was whether or not the requirements hurt the sale, and thus I would say yes.

true.

Hurt the sales in the first month. Like I said before, it will probalby sell well in 2008 when people eventually upgrade thier computers.

So when you upgrade your computer, your not going to get the game?

The graphics are amazing, just like how Bioshocks graphics are amazing on the PC. Guess what, if you dont have a high end computer you cant play the game. I couldnt play Bioshock at all while I could play Crysis.

Haha. So did you get the game?

It's kind of like the game went off the radar, at least for me it did. No one is talking about it. Doesn't seem to be that big of a deal. I may get it eventually.

Red ring of death by any chance, who cares, games are more fun.
Besides the fact that it's so hard to make any sense out of this post.

You want to know who cares about The Red Ring of Death? Umm......Everyone with an XBOX 360.

The people who've gotten it definitely care and the people who haven't gotten it (yet) definitely don't want to get it.

I have no plans of upgrading the PC in a couple of years, and when people do upgrade their PCs Crysis might have fallen under the radar, Crysis 2 however might be more likely.

Actually the comma was meant to go off on a different post, that is why I put by any chance, to ask a question, I then answered the other question fool.

Highly unlikely; that is not an established pattern for games sales.

Crysis has not sold as well as hoped and this might well be a commentary on the problems of games advertised on features that require high specs.

(Incidentally, I am frankly confused by your Bioshock comment. You're the odd one out there if you find that to be so. It is generally accepted in the gaming and tech community that Crysis has higher specs)

Well, I just know that I cant play Bioshock on low specs while I can with Crysis.

And you might right, but just because its not the norm doesnt mean it isnt going to happen.
