Last-Gen Console Discussions (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

My 360 broke a while back, and I take very good care of the system. I keep it in a well ventilated area, keep dust off of it and all that, but it still got the red rings.

Really has nothing to do with anyone doing anyone wrong, just MS dropped the ball with something which is why they extended the warranty, because a lot of people's systems were breaking.

But me and my six friends are special, so we do make up the majority.

But....being special...would indicate not being "the norm", thus you would then not make up the majority....

There are user created maps, not the extent of, say, Starcraft's campaign editor but you can create your own maps, there is free online play, and free downloadable content, patches are downloadable to fix things like AI, glitches, and server problems.

And the only thing I prefer on PC's are RTS's, and I've only played two RTS' frequency, Starcraft and Battle for Middle Earth, in my life. So it's just not worth it imo.

What games have user created maps? Or mods? And free downloadable content? What game has that also? Im curious, because I dont really know.

Yes, there is patches for console but its not like PC.

Both have thier advantages and disadvantages.

Yes it does. It just does in a Blaxican sort of way.

The tony Hawk series I know has UMM's, there's another one that has to do with islands I think, Farcry maybe? I've heard os several others.

Almost all LIVE games have free downloadable content. Interviews, manuals, maps, etc.

Dunno about Mods though.

I'm talking about real maps and not some crappy imitation console map creator. You get the idea with Starcraft, or CS maps, or TFC maps. Those are real user created maps that can be used on any server. Favourite map of all time for me is Turkeyburgers for TFC. Plain fun.

I dont think you understand what I meant by downloadable content. I'm not talking about manuals or interviews. I'm talking free maps (Valve does this really well), new gameplay modes and other things. Console has them but they cost money. Try to push that onto the PC gamer and he/she would shit a brick.

Mods are strictly an PC thing. PS3 is trying to get some mods with Epic's Unreal Tournment 3 but its probably going to be an PC mod thats workable with the console. Might cost money but might not.

I have an Xbox 360 and Wii and I love em.

So do I.

I know, thats what I was referring to.

I know what you meant. My friend just downloaded a patch with I think 4 new characters, 2 gametypes, etc for free. And besides Annex on gears if War is a free game type that we downloaded.

But in the PC market, there is basically no charger for free content outside of a brand new game. Some games like Battlefield charge money for it.

Outside of a few games (typically Epic games) most of the dl content cost money for console gamers.

True.

To true, PC games get you value unlike Console games, I remember the time where you just brought the game and everything that was needed for it.

Yeah, I havnt played an PC game in awhile until I started the Orange Box and playing TF2 custom maps add so much value to the game.

I am very interested in the console sales for December. I can't wait until Wii* have the numbers around January 10th. (Jan 10th is also the day the new Naruto episode airs in Japan...HOORAY!)

*I did that on purpose, you poopyheads.

Liar.

on topic: Obviously Wii'll* have the Wii on top yet again, what I wonder it's how the 360 and PS3 did during this holiday season, and which game was the best selling

*I'll stop now, it's not fun 131

I reckon the Wii did sell a lot...but probably not as many as Nintendo could have because they didn't make enough.

if they make too many, then people will stop wanting it

But what about all those people who are flip floppers who would have bought if it was available? I posit that there are far more people who would buy it if it was more available than the person who thinks that the system is no longer a fad because it is available.

Nintendo cannot meet up with demand, purchase of a console should be a provisional liking, because you like that console, it fits in with your lifestyle you can afford it; you like the games it offers, not because it is a fad or a rare thing to find.

It is a shame that other people can't think outside the fad like you can.

Yes, I am agreeing with your assessment and making fun of it at the same time.
