the newer 360's dont get the red ring. i know my old one got it bad so i sledgehammered the thing and got a new one. (the fact that i paid like 200 bucks for the first one might have hade something to do with why it was so crappy 😂 )

You seriously think that's the reason it died? 😐

No prob.

And yeah, the 360 is REALLY expensive. That probably will put a lot people off from buying it at first.

The price will probably drop pretty quickly though. Else they're not going to get much in the way of sales....

they made another 360? god damn how many versions did they put out 5?

Well you should remind yourself that the post you were quoting was made before the 360 was released.

Sony is saying that the increase of sales for the PS3 comes from GTA IV.

Others are saying that GTA IV sales success is thanks to the PS3.(BWAHAHAHAHAHA)

The only noticeable difference I've seen between GTA on PS3 and 360 is the draw distance is further and slightly more detailed on PS3, other than that I cant really see much. Maybe framerate.

For all the PS3 hardware specs, they dont seem to be using it to its potential.

Well GTA isn't the right game to look at to see what the PS3 can do, as it is a 360 game ported over to the PS3. I guess MGS or FFXIII (it's thirteen right, I've lost count) might show what it is really capable of.

What?

No, GTA isn't. It was originally PS3 only.

Mine was replying to WD's post saying people think PS3 is helping to sell GTA4, in other words there is something about the PS3 version that is better than the 360 version, but based on observation there isnt much difference at all.

I overlooked my post before though, I guess the developers can really only use what they're given in the time frame. Both games had to launch on the same day, so they couldn't really take another 6 months to make use of the PS3's power. Just seems a waste of processing power in the console if all they could do was add minor advancements.

Wasn't the entire deal with the deal problems with the PS3 port?

Somewhat, but that was kinda blown out of proportion by fanboys I think. A big reason for the delay is the online play.

Problems with the PS3 version, yes, but the PS3 version wasn't a port. It was the original.

That's not to say the 360 version was a port either. If I remember correctly, they both were done from the ground up.

I read somewhere that devs have trouble porting games from the 360 to the PS3. It would be better to have the games ported from the PS3 to the 360. ermm

Yeah, I think I've read something like that too.

The thing is that the 360 is actually very easy to program for. Meanwhile, the PS3, for all of it's advanced tech and stuff, is supposedly a royal pain in the ass to program for.

I've been told this, more than once, during my game design classes. The 360 hardware is extremely similar to your basic Windows PC, so you're almost writing for a system you're used to anyway. The PS3, however, is different from anything else due to the Cell processor, and apparently it's an annoying task to make sure the six separate nodes are processing the data like they're supposed to.

Hmm, isn't that just impractical? Would have thought them to do one and then port it over, saving time.

then again it was said Microsoft was outselling Sony 2:1 due to GTA IV (BWAHAHAHAHAHA)

I don't know who to believe (BWAHAHAHAHAHA)

🙄

it would seem that way, but the original reports, If I'm not mistaken, were that the game began being programmed for the PS3, as it was an exclusive, but seeing how hard (and expensive) it is to program for the console, Microsoft step in to add more money and snatch the exclusivity, and, since Sony wouldn't pay for exclusives, a deal was made. Not the exclusiveness of the title, since Rockstar thought that the game should be in the platform that helped in the franchise success, but with exclusive download content. (which I must remind that at the moment has not began being produced yet, in other words: it still doesn't exist). The game began being coded simultaneously, and as reported, they wanted to make the game look as good in any console, they took more time to finish the PS3 build (not port) and the multiplayer.

... still the PS3 ended up with a slightly, almost unnoticeable, advantage... 😬

After seeing both versions i believe the 360 to be the better one, just like the orange box, only that the PS3 version of GTA does not have loads of problems or frame-rate issues.

yeah, but you cant look at games like grand theft auto to judge a system. we need a game that will really test what the system is made of so we can have a judge.

Your talking about GTA4 right?

It's happening at this very moment:

More Xbox 360s are sold because of GTA IV

The numbers are coming out.
