Apparently there's a source on Gamepro that claims the 360 will get motion controls
http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=206810
that means that Darwin Controller that was made is going to be used
here's a link to the Darwin controller for those unfamiliar with it

thoughts anyone?
Gah! Late in the day if true (though a price cut is always a good thing).
The thing is, there has always been this diea that the Wii is physically incapable of doing what the 360 and PS3 do, but if they had equivalents of the Wii remote made for them, they could do everything the Wii does.
But we should all know by now that the market doesn't work like that. And this isn't just because there is now a certain amount of experience and quality coming into Wii software (ok, that's not universally true, as there is a lot of shovelware)- look at it this way. If you made a handheld that was more powerful than a DS, had the teo screens and was a touch screen... you;d be ,amde to say it would therefore beat the DS. You cannot beat that sort of market presence just by being technically suoerior, and that's before youy factor in how good the games are.
The Wii is so firmly established as being the cheap motion control junky of the console world, with its massively expanded market demographic, that no add-on for the 360 will change that, so any talk of this in some way taking on the Wii is madness.
What I reckon is more likely- and more intelligent a move from Microsoft- is that, if true, that this is a test bed for a future console release. Because that is what you would have to do to beat the Wii this way0 release a new console built from the ground up to behave like this, not try and alter an existing one. But if you can test some of the concepts on your previous console, so much the better.
Meanwhile if motion control does end up being a standard mainstream thing- that's another milestone chalked up to Nintendo in video gaming history, Fiar play!
microsoft would need a great marketting campaign too(they should ask steve jobs for help)
as for testing this thing for a future console release, although i can see microsoft bringing something new out in the middle of nowhere, would better graphics and motion controls really allow the title of next next gen?
this motion controller thing with microsoft just adds to their image of copying what others do. especially with the recent decision to add avatars...
also there was a rumour of the PS3 making a new controller too, a 'break-apart' motion controller
So a new 360 controller: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/901/901990p1.html
It supposedly fixes the D-pad (which I didn't know was broken) and comes in a new terrible color.

kotaku reported that the new xbox 360 controller, that has that fixed d-pad, is a limited edition

Haven't seen a problem yet while playing DoA4 or SoulCalibur 4.
the 360 dpad is just kinda...something, try getting the right weapon while playing gears on the first try.
even if you dont find anything wrong with the 360 dpad, they fixed whatever was wrong with it, and put it on a limited amount of bright green controllers
I never noticed a problem with the D-pad; course I don't play the 360 that much. Just the DS and the Wii now a days. Final Fantasy IV DS, Sonic Rush Adventure, Mario Kart DS, Metroid Prime: Hunters, and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the DS are the games I still play and Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Galaxy, Sonic & the Secret Rings, Mario Kart Wii, and NiGHTS for the Wii. Of course I have the itch to play Corruption again.
