Last-Gen Console Discussions (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

Unfortunately PS3 doesn't even come with the cables to use ANY HD out of the box.

And this is in regards to the 360's graphical capabilities. Personally, I'm fine with how games look on the system. And they will continue to improve.

People are always amazed at how much devs can squeeze out of systems. I remember people said the PS2 had hit its graphical peak, and then came Metal Gears Solid 3 which looked better than anything else.

Besides, if the Wii has shown us anything, it's that graphics are not the most important thing.

The Conduit shows us that the Wii can still get better graphics then what people have been saying it could get. I actually did some digging around to check out this game and beside the building models and car models this game looks freakin' amazing. How does it play; I dunno. IGN liked it.

Um, the PS3 is not the only system that does 1080p. In fact, the PS3 is known for having a fair number of games not available at that resolution at all and also having a lot that are upscaled to it from 720. That's not 'true' 1080.

And how are Arcade 360 owners screwed, as you say? They elected to purchase the cheaper console without a harddrive (which you do not NEED unless you want to play online). They are fully capable of buying a harddrive - they are not expensive.

If you want to complain about the lack of HDMI ports on the older 360 models, keep this in mind - the system came out in 2005. Yes, three years is not a long time, but in technological terms that's practically forever ago. HD was not even close to being as prevelant as it is now.

Conduit's graphics look kind of...blah. (just the envirnments the characters and enemies look awesome) Metroid Prime 3 has better graphics then that...but it looks like it could be kind of fun. But then again...

Keep in mind it's an early development build. If not even the audio is final, they are a very long way away from release and are still using beta assets for pretty much everything.

What would happen if you were an aspiring baseball player(360)? any players dream would be to land in the hall of fame one day, hit a home run, win games, be tremendously successful. But when someone tells you that your close to your limits(Epic), that you fall just short of extraordinary, that you have limits, you can only do so much. And then there's your rival(PS3) an allstar making a return, came back and started out rough, but has an extreme amount of potential and is very promising, even the coaches think he'll start getting into the zone more, ppl are starting to rally behind his return, he is getting more plays, since nov of 07, he's been stealing the show, it's only a matter of time that he surpasses you and then next game, you're benched or up last, you keep getting more injuries(RROD) and the coach and the crowd questions you. what would you do 🙄 ever think bout it like that??

You fail at metaphor yet again. 🙄

the Xbox 360 was outsold by the Wii in the month of August by over 400,000 units.

Pwned

What we really need to see now is how the market will respond in Japan (and in the States as well) in the coming months.

Let's look at two things here.

The Xbox 360 cost as much as Wii in Japan.

The Xbox 360 have included a good amount of RPGs in their library.

And....of course Final Fantasy XIII is coming to the Xbox 360.

That doesn't spell trouble for the Wii...but it certainly is something that Sony cannot ignore.

Once again...Sony is under pressure to lower the cost of the PS3.

The Wii has shown us graphics arent everything, infact, it's about gameplay, although 90% of wii games that try and run that gimmick sound better on paper and the execution is off.

its either gameplay at the sacrifice of graphics(wii people)
or beowulf caliber graphics with classic controls(PS3) or the slightly lower graphics, good, but not as good...its like in the middle ground, the graphics wont be as good as the PS3 in the future, but it doesnt warrant like motion control gameplay...so what, thats like a lose lose situation to me. if i want to play on the classic button controller style with great graphics, i mite as well go all out.

Limited graphics capabilities, RROD, 59.99 vs free online, developers having trouble with limited storage space on discs, its all bad publicity. does no one understand that? its not good, and its showing, 360 has placed dead last on NPD charts nearly every month since 07, therefore pricecuts needed to be put in affect to actually sell.

Very close... as in two years away.

Hence the entire rest of your post is a waste of everyopne's time.

You simply have misread the article due to your innate bias.

However, FFXIII is not coming for the 360 in Japan.

At this time it isn't....that however might change depending on how the respond to the price cut of the 360 will be in Japan.

There is a turning point in this console war. Japan will be site...or at least that is how it seems.

The ball remains on Sony's court.

Sony's not going to drop the price on the PS3. They're just going to keep releasing different versions of the system while discontinuing what's out already. I think we're on PS3 v7 now? Sheesh. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't follow that stuff and is trying to keep track.

And about 360 sales...think on this a moment. The system has been out for nearly 3 years now. Honestly, I would think the logical reason for the sales drop is that most people who want the system already own one.

Cannot at all deny the fact that the 360's game sales dominate the PS3's game sales, though.

I really don't think that Microsoft is going to get much more than the tiny foothold they have in Japan.

We have already countered every one of these claims against the 360, which you were unable to effectively argue against, and yet you continue to bring them up. You remain incorrect on every point of your list.

As for console sales, three years on the console units are no longer a true indicator of the market leader. Most people who want a particular console will have it as this point, therefore we must look at game sales. And in game sales, 360 games continues to outsell their PS3 counterparts, whether multiplatform releases or competitors in similar genres.

It's magnificently irrelevant if it comes out later though, isn't it? The rush will already have taken place at launch. And I understand the licensing agreement is such that the launch plans in Japan will not be changed now.

Yeah I didn't think of that. But it does look pretty good. The graphics show that the Wii isn't some Gamecube with motion consoles slapped on.

If I had indepth conclusive data on how the Japanese licensing agreements work I would argue.

I don't...so I can only guess just like the rest of people who aren't acquainted with the japanese business laws.

Well, do you have any reason at all to support the idea that the publically announced exclusivity for the title on the PS3 in Japan which has formed part of its advertising can possibly be changed?

Or are you just vaguely hoping this will happen?

Square Enix has been seen supporting the 360 out of all the consoles with the many games placed on it. Perhaps FFXIII may go out to the 360 in Japan if sales for the system increase but if it doesn't...it doesn't bother me because I'm over here in the US which means 'ello FFXIII 360 version 💃

Ive never heard about any problems with storage space, except maybe from Kojima. Sure some RPGs need extra disc, but its just because they need 20 hours CG footage. And when it comes to online, as an owner of all 3 systems, you get what you pay for. 😬
