I certainly think people will they they were bloody stupid, yes. The PS3 price is going to go down as one of video gaming's great debacles.

It would be interesting. It would make sense that the development of gaming consoles would be more prominently featured, especially considering their immense influence on advancements in technology.

On the other hand, everyone will probably live in a video game by then, and who wants to learn about history when playing Gears of War 10

Meanwhile, Bardock, the Wii price at Amazon is £179. Look again and you will see the price you have given is not from Amazon but a third party stockist, and hence not remotely like the actual general price of a Wii in this country. If Amazon actually had any left to sell it would be at £179- the same price it is in the shops, or at other online sites like play.com.

This is the only one I can find. There's a used one for 179. The cheapest new one is indeed, cheaper, it's 185, but that's a third party and the one right after is already 213. If Amazon sells it for 179, could you show me a link to that?

The 60 GB 360 on the other hand costs 162 on Amazon. But it doesn't include a game, so you have to consider that.

HMV doesn't seem to have the Wii in stock atm, but they have a sweet deal on a 60GB X-Box http://hmv.com/hmvweb/navigate.do?pPageID=3071 199 pounds with 3 Games included.

And I can't get zavvi to tell me their prices online.

I agree that the price is obviously just like that because Nintendo can sell them...it's just not a deal I'd ever take.

Then it's the same as every other electronic in the world if something happens past the warranty.

And it has been fixed, that problem is massively less common in systems made past August 2007. It, however, like every other problem that can occur in an electronic device, cannot be completely fixed.

Why is focusing on the casual crowd, when they are the vast majority of people who play games, a bad thing?

I don't think its the same as every other electronic in the world because most electronics don't die off as fast the 360s. The shitty hardware was the reason everyone got the 3 year warranty.

Also, I wouldn't trust them saying all the problems are fixed. Just recently at the CES Microsoft had a 360 on display, and it had 2 red flashing lights, its not the complete RRoD, but still a problem.

I'll tell you why focusing on the casual is a bad thing, for one it may be good for the business but bad for us. Unless your happy with shovelware games. For me I enjoy the graphic powerhouses, or any game that pushes the boundaries, but if casual sells take off, developers wont have much reason to make the Killzone 2 type games that make your jaw hit the floor. Cooking Mama 5 out in December by Epic games.

Finally I got a PS3 woot... though it's only for a while... currently playing MGS4 and loving it

my 360 will sit pretty for the time being....

the bluray is so sweet, watched a couple HD movies with it...

You know what I want in a system?...Exclusives!!!

OH SNAP!!! Suck it Sony!

Why will you just have it for a while SDJ? Did a friend of yours let you borrow it?

yep... he's got two, so I borrowed one.

I got about a week to play and finish MGS4, so I've been doing nothing but play the game...
maybe, if I can convince him, he let me keep it for a little longer so I can play Resistance 2 as well
... lucky for me I still have my PS2 component cable, so I've been enjoying the PS3 in 1080i 😄

MGS4 looks orgasmic in 1080. I take it you're enjoying the game. If you ain't....! *Shakes fist*

Since this is the place to talk about current-gen consoles, including the Wii..

Can they get anymore casual than this?

Nah, I see it as a tool for people who are stuck at something.

It may be casual but there is numerous times when I'm stuck at something so retarded that the developer put in and it would be nice to see how to actually do it.

Actually, that's a very good idea. There were a few times in the past in which I spent several hours on a certain part of game because it required exact timing or another requirement. I'm sure that a bunch of other gamers (young and old) have the same problems, too.

The only way Nintendo could get more casual than that is if the developer drives to the gamer's house, eat a meal together while discussing the game, show the gamer how to get past a certain part, then leave while giving the gamer his/her business card.

If it's that good, I guess Nintendo might as well make a new Brain Age game while they're at it. One that allows people to see the math added up and solved for them before they even attempt it.

That's a very good idea. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo actually does that in the next Brain Age game.

It would serve as a good study tool for elementary students and a good refresher for adults. I'm pretty sure some adults may not have been fond of math during their younger years, but a video game that teaches math might catch their attention.

Are we coming to an age where people can't engage in problem solving/figure anything out for themselves anymore?

Isn't that the main, if not only, reason why technology is constantly being improved and upgraded?

😆

beats gamefaqs.com ...

DS is slowly approaching the 100 million mark (at 83 or so million right now) and the Wii is at about 35 million where the 360 is at 28 million and the PS3 around 19 million.

Nintendo is still in the lead by a good bit too.

It's the same thing as a faq sheet, or walkthrough on youtube. The only difference is that its in the game.

I like the ability to see how to beat something that I couldn't figure out and the only reason why I want to continue is because I want to see what happens afterwords.

Sometimes I dont have the time to see there and look at a puzzle, or get stuck to the game so I try to figure out and if I don't in a reasonable amount of time, I consult a faq sheet.

Also, some games have completely out there puzzles and not in a million years would I have figured it out.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you.....BattleFront 3, or at least before it was cancelled.

good lord.

Huh, that actualy looked pretty great.

So for those of you who pay attention to the game business, what are the chances that some other game developers can pick up Battlefront from where Free Radical were when they went bankrupt?
