I wonder why anyone would be surprised to see the ROD failure increase.

The console is shitty.

BTW the PS3 slim looks like a retarded PS2 slim clone with a deadwish.

It's not much about the 360, it's the slim PS3 with zero vent opening on the sides and a potential meltdown

Erm, ok, you can't really use that because Tetris was around when games were different. Tetris was new and exciting.... And it had a very good soundtrack for it's day.

I play games with friends... More than I do alone. And I've stated that Wii Sports was fun, I just don't think it's a great game. A games multiplayer options of course effect how I rate a game, I just like a game to be good for both single and multiplayer. The main reason why I lost faith in the Halo series.

I never really said that visuals were important to me. I just said it was a way that games can be judged... Saying that, I know that in the past a gaming experience has been effected by graphics. As I'm sure it has for you. (Mirrors Edge, XIII [both possitivly)... and to some extent FFVII [even though I loved the game])

Tetris had poor graphics even for its day.

Some games don't need top drawer graphics to be great even when compared to newer games on newer consoles...San Andreas is vastly superior to GTA IV for example.

250 gb PS3:

Make it stop: 250GB PS3 Slim models may be coming
http://www.destructoid.com/make-it-stop-250gb-ps3-slim-models-may-be-coming-144908.phtml

Just when we were tired of the PlayStation 3 Slim rumors -- the leaks, the retailer hints, the fake ads -- Sony goes ahead and announces the thing at gamescom. We're thrilled, of course, because that means all of the chatter about a new console can just stop already.

Not so fast. An FCC filing uncovered by PS3 News points to yet another model PS3 Slim, the CECH-2000B. What's the difference? Well, it has a 250GB hard drive; the announced CECH-2000A comes with a 120GB hard drive. The filing's a bit sneaky, with Sony's lawyers attempting to hide it under another company's name. But PS3 News put on its detective hat and rest assured, this is the real deal.

So now we wait for the retailer leaks, the pricing speculation, and the phony advertisements designed in Photoshop by sad people who think they're clever. This doesn't amuse us. Not one bit.

Xbox 360 Arcade getting UK price hike AND less stuff
http://www.destructoid.com/xbox-360-arcade-getting-uk-price-hike-and-less-stuff-144544.phtml

Not again! Hot off the heels of Activision's Modern Warfare 2 price hike, it's been revealed by a number of British retailers that Microsoft is planning to raise the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade in the UK. Not only that, but the five XBLA games previously bundled with the system won't be there. More money for less stuff? That's how Microsoft rolls.

The Arcade currently retails for £129.99. From September 1, the system will instead cost £159.99. A number of 360 accessories are also expected price increases of several Pounds.

Microsoft is apparently using the same excuse Activision did, hiding behind what it believes to be a poor Pound-to-Euro currency exchange rate and using it to justify gouging more cash out of British wallets. It looks like Modern Warfare 2 has set a rather grim precedent, which greedy ol' Microsoft is more than happy to follow.

Something tells me that this isn't the last we'll see of this sort of bollocks. Grim times are ahead for British gamers.

Guess What's On Microsoft's Xbox 360 Elite Chopping Block
http://360.kombo.com/article.php?artid=17111

Remember yesterday, when we told you that in Europe, Microsoft was trimming the Arcade package, effectively removing the thing which made it an "Arcade" package to begin with, all while raising the price? Well, now the American branch has decided to take the shears to one of our SKUs as well. And high-definition hopefuls are going to be none-too pleased with what they are cutting.

One of the bigger things Sony caught hell over when they released the PlayStation 3 was that they were offering the console for $600 and not even giving you the cables needed to make it a high-definition experience. Well, according to Kotaku, someone at Microsoft figured along the way that wasn't such a bad plan after all-- at least half of it.

The result? The Xbox 360 Elite will soon no longer be including the HDMI cables necessary to get the HD out of your HD console. GameStop employees the nation over have said new models of the hardware no longer ship with HDMI cables, or component cables either, for that matter. SD composite cables are the new standard of "Elite," it would seem.

Now, "anyone with an HDTV is going to have to pay a little extra," Kotaku says. "An HD tax, if you will."

They add, "How are you going to help kick the HD generation along shipping composite cables? This was a bum move when Sony pulled it in 2006. Pulling it in 2009 is just...yeah, disappointing."

"Disappointing." That's a good word. Though I suppose this might explain part of what necessitated the different between the price of a Pro and the price of an Elite to Microsoft, if they're really bringing the price of the latter down.

For those hoping to scoop up an Elite that does include HDMI cables, Kotaku has an image of the new box, which you can see right here:

That one is kind of old news now. Stores already have the Elites minus the HDMI cables in stock.

It's because Microsoft is phasing out the Pro system. They're going to drop the price on the Elite which is going to take the place of the Pro.

Didn't know that (about the cables, not the pro-elite switch), and I certainly hadn't seen it posted here.

Since when have I said that a game NEEDs good graphics to be good!? But undoubtedly the visuals of a game will be an element to how you judge it, amongst other things?

That's still a stupid idea.

I understand you can get a cheap HDMI cable for about 10 bucks now, but that goes on saying that MS can include them too.

It's a shit move.

There is already a Final Fantasy VII thread. Any opinion of the game you have, you may place there, thank you.

Also, please refrain from the insults. They'll just get you some nice warnings.

Ho the hell did you find that?

Did you use the googles or the wikipedia?

this website 😐

Furthermore, this thread is for console discussion. Back on topic, thank you.
