Thanks for the help, ass.

Dude i'm joking.

But on a serious note could it be possible that you need a wired connection for your ps3? Or has it been confirmed that you can connect ps3 to a wireless network?

Considering that PS3s have wireless built in, of course you can.

Have you checked the network settings of your router/firewall/etc?

Or try plugging in an ethernet cable and see if that works.

It keeps saying the server has timed out.

Help.

when you tell your ps3 to look for wireless connections does it even see your router? does it know it exists?

I'm in a place that has wireless internet connection.

Do I still need a router?

If you have wireless internet, you should see your SSID (your network name) when you trying to connect to wireless. If you cannot see your SSID, then your router is not displaying it and it's a router problem.

If you can see, and connect to it and not getting Internet, it's probably an issue with the PS3.

If you have wireless, you already have a router unless your getting it from an access point like at a school, or coffee shop.

What difference would this make, may I ask?

What do you mean?

You said you had wireless internet. I said you already have a router if you have wireless already unless your getting it from an access point like a coffee shop, or at a school.

To get wireless where you live, you need to have an ISP, which then a router is connected to the modem the ISP provides you. Or you can get a signal from an access point (which works from having a router, and a wireless access point hooked up to it, usually this happens in larger, open areas like a school or something). You can get wireless form other means but you wouldn't get good enough speeds to play online.

So in the end, most people have a wireless router hooked up to the ISP provided modem.

Yeah, I'm at a University that provides wireless internet.

your school has a router then that is putting the wireless signal out for people to connect to. thats all a wireless router is, it generates a wireless signal.

so in order to connect your ps3 to the router's signal you have to tell it to look for wireless signals put out by routers. all routers have a "name" that makes them distinguishable from other routers. so find out what the name of the signal is and tell your ps3 to look for wireless signals. the name of your school's specific signal should be listed.

Yep.

You might need a key/password to go onto the network. It should be somewhere on your school's website.

yep!

Thanks for the help.

You're connecting to the internet via your PS3 at uni? Nice. It pretty much works just as it would when you use your laptop and get onto the network.

You need a password to access the internet itself which is most likely the case. Said password could be your student ID/number or so on.

PS3 Slim doing extremely well in the Japanese market.

Also, Pokemon SoulSilver is outselling it's other counterpart, HeartGold.
I guess nobody likes a flying multi-colored chicken.

Next year will have a lot to say about the current gen. Wii sales are finally slipping, the PS3 has brought out a package much more attractive to the mainstream, and Microsoft are trying out the Natal plan soon.

Leaves Nintendo on the back foot- though rumours of an upgraded Wii are flying around.

Even if there was an upgraded Wii, I don't think I'll get it. Not enough quality games that interest me.

Fair enough. Apparently is is entirely feasible that a Wii in HD could display all current Wii games at better resolution, as this has already been done in emulation. That's a good pull for existing Wii owners to upgrade- but it won't really work unless they start making some dedicated games for a better Wii.

I do feel I should point out at this point that nearly six months after release, not one bit of the potential for the DSi has yet been realised, though. DsiWare is 9/10ths shit and there has been no Handheld virtual console and no games taking advantage of its extra power or SD card feature. So I worry that Nintendo might cock up a better Wii as well.

Still, they still have quite a lead, so we'll see what happens.
