Last-Gen Console Discussions (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii)

Try FF13 on both consoles and then see if your opinion is the same.

Most cross platform games look better on the 360, they are developed for it. This is why I get most of my multiplat games for the 360. This isn't a new thing. Glad the idiot got banned.

This is mostly due to the Xbox 360 being easier to develop games for, although it's not entirely uniform. Dragon Age: Origins looks better on PS3, although I think it runs choppier. The GPUs are very similar in performance, while the CPUs make up the difference. The main concern is that PS3's CPU is different from the norm and thus difficult to properly harness.

I can't wait till Nintendo announce the Wii's successor, which'll probably happen next year.

Oh joy.

Maybe the next Smash Bros. game will be announce later next year too.

Maybe but knowing Nintendo with Smash Bros they don't give anything away at once.

Why they'd announce a succesor to the Wii this early I don't know. Unless it's just a revamp like the DSi I don't see a point.

Well if I recall correctly, Reggie Fils-Aime did kind of confirm that they're working on the next console.

Also it wouldn't surprise me if something big was announce next year since they seem to always do something new five years after releasing a current console. I expect something announced at next year's E3.

DA😮 doesn't look great on a console, period. Doesn't look especially good on a PC, either, though; the graphics in that game are just not anything to write home about. Game itself is great, though.

And I'm pretty sure that Nintendo's next system is not going to be a simple DSi-style update to the Wii. If they were going to do something like that, they probably would have a while ago.

They would have done it earlier? Why? Wii sales have been strong. You only rebrand when sales are falling like they have been recently.

I think it would be an unnessesary risk producing a new console this soon.

Sales have been falling for a bit now, that's why they dropped the price on the system last year.

Anyone else remember when Nintendo said they were going to do a Wii with DVD playback, or an HD-capable one, or even just releasing in different colors? And none of that happened. You think that they would have at least done one of those.

Just like the DS dropped in price before the DS lite, just like the DS lite dropped in price before the DSi, the Playstation 3 before the PS3. A price drop does not mean that the console is on it's last legs. I believe we've yet to see a couple of different Wii SKUs before that.

They should milk the Wii just like they are doing with the DS. If they don't they'd be foolish, they may never get a more succesful console generation again.

And to say again... Why on earth would a company make modifications of any kind if sales are holding? Unless these modifications reduce manafacture costs it's a waste of time and money. Develop them sure but don't release them until you want a sales injection.

This is a buisness you know.

DS Lite didn't drop in price before the DSi, though, it's the same price it's been for...three years now? Maybe even longer. Think it's still the same price it was back when I bought mine. That might be different in Europe, though, but in the US it's stayed the same.

And I didn't say that a price drop means a console is on its last legs; what I said is that price drops tend to coincide with sales drops more than anything else.

But considering that it's been so long without them adding anything to the Wii, I don't think they will at this point. Maybe start adding in the Motion Plus as standard with the system itself, but that's about it.

And yes, it's a business, but it's also a business that has been selling the Wii at a profit from day one.

Prices dropped here, I got my DS lite a few months before the release of the DSi because it was like £50 cheaper than it's release price.

Just because they haven't made andy modifications recently doesn't mean they won't. Look at the PS2, the slim came out very late into it's cycle. The fact is (and I'm saying this again) THEY HAVE NOT NEEDED TO.

They have been making profit from day one so you've got to assume they aren't going to give up on in the next year or so.

I also think will get some kind of announcement or some more solid rumors about the next Wii this year, they vehemently denied a new DS and now there's the 3DS about to be unveiled at E3

If you're buying a game for graphics over gameplay in the first place, I'd say that's pretty retarded.

And yes, Dragon Age: Origins is an awesome RPG. ...I still can't put the thing down and I've beaten it like..5 different times.

Maxed out on a PC, DA😮 looks pretty damn good, I think. Just need to turn off that stupid blood spatter.

i run it on medium on mine, and it looks very nice indeed.

Christ. Why do PS3 controllers cost so damn much? I need another one and they're $50 USED at Gamestop.
