After the Wii...that is not surprising.
After the Wii's success, though, we do not have to demand a big jump in graphics capabilities.
I just want something to come out that is significantly better than the PS3...maybe something that is capable or equivalent to a mid-range gaming PC.
I'm not surprised at all.
It's Nintendo.
They've always been behind in the graphics department.
I hope this time they have games for the "hardcore" crowd as well.
It'd be the best bang-for-the-buck console in the next gen.
But if it's true that the graphics are inferior to that of the PS3's or 360's, then forget about it.
I'm sticking with the PS3 and the 360.

You realize that graphics does not equal processing power, correct?

We had this argument, before, I think.
Graphics = polygons, shading, shadowing, colors, fps, etc.
Or are you talking about aesthetics, again? If aesthetics, yeah, I agree with you. Yoshi's Story is still one of the cutest games made and the graphics/aesthetics of the game are awesome.
The first Spiro game for the PS1 had atrocious graphics even for its time and the aesthetics were and still are atrocious.
But the graphics being talked about are directly related to processing power. With a powerful enough processor, you would not need any RAM for context switching but we must include RAM and CPU Cache into the "graphics" equation.
I just hope to hell the Wii-U offers me something. I want a 2-3 times bump in graphics capabilities (this seems ambiguous but I could be referring to 3D Benchmark).
.......from the rumors I have heard the ps4 and the new xbox wont be able to play used games. Apparently the disks will have codes of some sort that register that game to that console so no other console can play it. I also hear that the new xbox will be $800......sooooo I feel the wii u will be safe in sales as far as the new next gens are concerned. In all honesty if the rumors I hear are true the wii u is the only one of the three I would be interested in
on a side note I haven't read through the recent pages so idk if this was discussed already or not but I saw mention of the wii u and felt I would mention it.

I would pay $600 for a new console. If it is superior to my new PC in graphics AND I get all of the console benefits? Why not?
$800 is when it becomes a bit stupid to buy a console, imo. $600 is about the limit.
The Wii U, if it starts out at $250 and IF it boasts double the graphics abilities of the PS3, that may be worth the buy.
If it offers marginal improvement over the PS3 or no improvement: goodbye, Nintendo.
Some ask, "why is it all about the graphics?"
It's not. Convince me to buy a new console by supplying a better interface. If there is no marked improvement over the previous generation, then it is not worth it.

Graphic whores are not true gamers.
You're right: they are high-end gamers. Big difference. 313
I will not be able to take any summer classes because the interim "speech" class is already full at OSU so I am stuck with nothing to do all summer when everyone is asleep in my house (I work overnights)...so game I will. Because I like awesome sound, awesome visuals, and awesome story, I am no longer a gamer to you? Obviously, you do not believe that. I love my 3-4 second load times in Skyrim while running max settings. 🙂 Technology is awesome. Why not take advantage of it with beautiful games?

If that was true, what would happen to those people that have to get replacement consoles?

I have no clue...
I mean Xbox as it is has a system in place so when you download DLC it gives licensing to that console but only once a year you can switch the licensing to another console. It might work something like that however im just grasping as straws with that answer.

Oh yeah, if those rumors are true, then Sony and Microsoft are shooting themselves in the foot. I might gladly be a "last-gen" gamer for awhile if that's what the beginning of the next generation will hold for us, besides the Wii U.
As far as i am concerned I won't buy those systems.
