Well if you're gonna quote Buddha stuff...I'll quote Wiccan..

We vow to invoke your many names and we will praise you by the light of the moon and the seasons of the earth, through our faith we shall become stronger and as our numbers multiply we shall outgrow the common man, for there is power in numbers and as we grow we vow to preserve and protect your legacy.

I will love, and harm none,
I will live, love, die and live again.
I will meet, remember, know and embrace once more,
For the free will of all, and with harm to none.
As I will, it is done. So mote it be.

So mote it be!

Blessed Be, Phelan!
Wiccan.

I know you want to make friends with the Mormons, but they are not going to understand. πŸ™„

I like the whole peace thing. πŸ˜„ It's a good thing a lot of religions have in common. (even if the people don't practice it)

So, is being really serious about conserving the earth important to you? (not that we're not taught to respect it, we are, but we see things as a lot more temporary here.)

It's nice that some of you guys can see the good in our people and religion, because that's all we really want, is to be at peace with those around us.

As for the if it's in the bible it must be right logic, that's not true about us.

part of an article of faith:
"We believe the bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly."

One of the main reasons we've been quoting the bible is so that you can see that we have a connection there also, sometimes it makes it have more meaning to other Christians. πŸ™„ I keep trying to tell you that!

Finiti, thanks for the comment about our missionaries. We're pretty proud of them too. They're really blessed to be able to learn languages. To me, that's probably one of the most amazing things about them. All of them go to a country and within two years they're all pretty much fluent, not just some of them.

I'm glad we've reached a mutual agreement Shanky. I hope you guys understand that I try to say what I say here with the upmost respect, not meaning offense to any of you. πŸ˜‰

Oh, and someone said something like "stupid evil christians who think non-christians are evil, so they can kill them in holy wars". Dont' try to tell me that. The LDS denomination has never had a holy war, we've never told our people to shed blood in the name of christ, or God. If ever we condone with war it is to protect our land, our homes, our right to have religion, and our families (or to free others from tyrany and grant them that same freedom). Like Caption Moroni states in the book of mormon with the title of liberty. And we are taught to only have good feelings about others. To allways be kind and even love them that hate us.

Happy belated birthday Ramses!!! (sorry I'm late. But what, you in some kinda hurry to get old?)

I'm a mormon and I have a sense of humor πŸ˜•

πŸ˜› So there

No, that is not true. That is the Re-organized Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter Day Saints. It's a part of the church that broke off because they wanted to keep poligamy when it was no longer needed.

And the reason we needed poligamy was because in the beginning of our church there were many persecutions and many of the men in the church were being killed. The women back then could not own land or support themselves without a man...so if a woman became a widow...she'd be in the streets. So they allowed poligamy so that the man would get the rights to the land and whatnot and the women could keep thier lives and families out of the streets. That's why we had poligamy...because the government did not allow women to keep what was thiers in that time.

Just so you know. πŸ™‚

I'm sorry, I thought it was obvious, I was joking. You can joke about Buddha any time with me.

I'm not your enemy; I'm your friend. Even finti and Deb, although a little on the extreme side are not your enemies (finti might disagree). I know you get a lot of flack from people, but that is the price you pay for standing up for something. Also, I can be down right provocative, but I really want people to have strong faith in what ever they believe. Week faith is not worth having.

Ramses is 19 now, and thats it... and unlike RAB Im not planning a mission, so sorry about that guys. If the Lord wants me there, He shall put me there, but I feel there is somethings else I can be doing, in a different way than serving a mission. Anyways, just wanted to let you know I'm 19 now... uhgg, so far it SUCKS!!!!

Thank you for treating me kindly and with respect. I normally don't come to this thread out of respect. I only came here the other night because a friend, who has a bad attitude about religion, was here causing trouble. I tried to get rid of him, but then I say the way people were responding to him. In my mind someone strong in his or her belief will respectfully put him in his place, but if they are true to their belief that too will show itself. What I saw was respectful, but seemingly arrogant. So I tested the waters and got your reply. I am so glad you did. You should see the response I get from some Christians.

You are very welcome. You are indeed a good person and I do very much enjoy talking to you because you are quite a bit more enlightened than most. You have a positive outlook and you do not show disrespect to anyone. More of us should learn from your example.

I don’t believe in a Satan, but I understand and agree with how you put it. I feel that if you say there is a Satan, then if you do wrong, you don’t have to take responsibility. My faith is all about responsibility, and I believe that much of the evil things in the world are caused by people refusing to take responsibility. If you are not responsible, you can do great evil. But I know that responsibility is part of your teaching and that is one of the reasons I wanted to make myself clear.

I agree, many do use Satan as a scapegoat for their own mistakes. Please, do not think that I am one of those people. I do believe in Satan, but I am a person blessed with Free-will and it is ultimately my choice to choose good or evil. I have not always chosen good. I spent many years choosing evil and paid a harsh price for it. Yes, there is an evil force that influences us, but it is up to each of us to make the final descision in what we must do. We are responsible for ourselves. Thank you for acknowledging that Shaky. It is important to always take responsibilty for the things we do...it is how we become better people.

I don’t believe Mormons are a cult anymore than any other religion. I think it is used as a bad word to beat at you. I understand this, if you look my religion up on the Internet, you will find many evil untrues said about us. This we have in common. We also have great piece among our members, as I know you also do. Maybe that is why they call us both cults, because we have something they cannot have.

Thank you again.

this pic is for you Shaky....

Oh hun...I know you were joking. I was just stating it for the factual part of the joke...cuz some people really don't know the truth. I'm not at all saying that you didn't know the truth.

And I don't believe that I have any enemies here...other than one or two which I have dealt with outside of this thread long ago. I know you guys like to pick on us (you guys being a general term for forum-comers)...cuz we fight back with scriptures and testimonies....I find it a bit amusing how this keeps going around too. Espeically because the same questions keep getting addressed over and over and over.

It's all good hun...no hard feelings at all.

*again...MEDITATION ROCKS MY SOCKS*

Thanks...

In my faith there is only one sin, do not slander. If you really think about it, it is all you need.

True that. πŸ˜„

"If it is evil, it is of the devil, and if it is good, it is of me."

-The Lord, our God, our Heavenly Father.... or well something like that, somewhere in the scriptures...

I do agree though, most people tend to blame Satan over our actions more than we should. I do not believe he makes our decisions for us, but I do believe he forever tempts us to do evil. Now whatever it is we do with that temptation is our choice, and that is where we shall be punished. It's funny, when being tempted to do evil, you see it's "good side" before you do it, then feel the guilt and regret it... in most cases. But when doing good, you don't see it's benifits until after you have done whatever it is that was good, for the blessings come AFTER and not before. So, remember next time you do something, and it seems good before the act, it is not a blessing. But it seems good after the fact, it is a blessing. If that makes sense to anybody that isnt confused about life situations...

Two Mormon missionaries are walking down the street one sunny morning. Coming from the opposite direction is a Priest. As they meet the Priest says, "Good morning, Sons of the Devil." The Mormon missionaries reply, "Good morning Father."

Is that a joke?? I don't get it...

The joke is confusing in the sense that "Father" could mean Heavenly Father or Biological Father.

the sense here is that priest are often refered to as "Father" at least catholic priest, then you have the biological version of the word.

So mote it be means the same as "And let it be done."...Kinda like Amen.
