Is Superman the ultimate Superhero?

Started by olympian37 pages

SM is a more world wide known icon by a considerable margin.

But as far as american superhero comics go, Spiderman is more consistantly popular since his first apperance.

first most recognized symbol in the world... the cross.
second most recognized symbol in the world... superman's "S" shield.
third would be the coca-cola.

you say goku to an average american, he'll look at you like "what the f---?"

you say superman to a japanese he'll say "up up and away!" probably in japanese... but still.

Absolutely of course!!!

yeah, he is. but just like britney spears is to pop music, superman is to comics, which means that he is well known to all yet disliked by most. 🙂

Superman has to be the best my other 2 are thor and Hulk

Dude... Superman #219... where'd you get that pic?

Superman Forever

spiderman stands for material things of the teenage era... superman is well above any of that, he is the original, the superman, the first superhero... before him was just heroes... hence superhero was formed after he was created... spiderman even is based on him for parts of he works at the daily bugle, very close to daily planet... has a bossy boss... same as superman, he even has a little affection with one of the girl there like lois but he never pursued it, adn even in the film aunt may says you arent superman you know... his influence should be something to smile about no matter how fcuking twisted a person you are... most people in the world im referring too, that's why he isn't so popular anymore because most of the world is a sick twisted mess.

So because everyone doesn't worship at the altar of superdick, we're the sick twisted ones??

Interesting.................

You don't have to like him. However, as a comic book fan, you should at least respect Superman.

I think people should show more respect for Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegal.

Nada zip zero goose eggs nyet lo etc etc etc etc

Only one name fits the bill...only one name ever will fit the bill.

Don't mess with the "S"

haha perfectly said. Also, the term "Superhero" actually comes from "Superman"... that's no joke. Weird, huh? "Supermom", "Superdad", pretty much "Super-anything" all started with the Man of Steel. I read it in a documentary called "What Makes Superman so Darned American" or something like that. I love a LOT of different characters, but Superman IS the ultimate power-wise, integrity-wise, and lore-wise.

well I won't call individuals "sick" without knowing anything about them, but you are right on a lot of points here. Spidey IS based on Superman, Stan Lee's admitted it. Also, our country has had a greater moral decline in the last 10-15 years than ever in the history of the world and yes, it can't even be argued that that's why people don't like a character who stands for truth and justice. We know he's right, but we'd rather call him cheesy.

Almost all Superheroes stand for truth & justice though. That's not what makes Supes cheesy. It's pretty much everything else about him

Good post. Far too many Supes fans seem to think like that. That s**t is tiresome. If you like Supes that's fine, but to many people out there he just sucks. Deal w/it. & don't bit*h out and try to downrate people who don't share your love for a FICTIONAL CHARATER. The smart Supes fans don't feel the need to do that crap.

actually only to a certain extent but never have they proven themselves in the comics as much as superman has, most people hate him because he stands for what they are against, the freaks of the world are the people that live there.

So his fans are people who stand for liberty, justice, and peace for all?

And you base that on what? Have you talked to most people who hate him? They all said "I hate him 'cause he stands for truth & justice" 😆 ? I guess people must really hate Cap then 🙄

capt? well he never get's much mention compared to wolverine for example, who's very different in character, i'm wondering what ur arguing for?
