More importantly, how many of them..or their parents have jobs?
When you're at school you can't really have a job.
And their parents, i think all really.
But not the wives off-course.

They can if they want to.

You are showing your age and capacity to reason with this comment. Poverty is not often a decision, sometimes it is someone who is just lazy, but most often that is not the case.

that's exactly what I'm saying.
In Belgium School is free and they can go if they want to, so they really get the chance if they want to.
And most of them take the chance.

But there are a few of these idiots who prefer burning down cars for no reason at all.

I know what you are saying, we have people like that here in the US. What can be done to stop it?

Maybe you did answer, maybe you didn't....

But, is a college degree important in Belgium, as far as getting a descent paying job? It is here in the US. Does you father have a college or university degree?

And, education might be free, but is university free...except for the books?

And right with that you nailed it. If you're scraping by, you have a choice to either work now to get the money to live with, or go to school in hopes that you can survive day to day with what you have and someday be able to get a wellpaying job.

And btw, you can have a job while in school, most American students also have part-time jobs.

university is not free.
Education is.
And it is very important, my dad and mom have one.

And you confuse the US too much with Belgium, Kharmadog.
In Belgium you can chose!
Everyone can become what he wants.
IF he works for it and goes to School.

It's all about wanting to and wanna work for it in Belgium.
You just gotta study to do something with your life.

I thought this thread was about the Paris Riots.

It is.
And the Paris Riots are all about education.

So, kindergarten through the end of high school is "free". And when you say "free" I assume you mean that it is paid for by taxes collected from teh population.

You also admit that a degree is important in getting a job that pays the person well enough to support themselves in a manner that doesn't imply poverty.

I am, apparently, not confusing anything. From everything you have said about Belgium, it's sounds a lot like the US. Your words: "Everyone can become what he wants.IF he works for it and goes to School." The same is possible here in the US.

All you say is true.
At last someone gets my point.
This is the same with the rioters.
They are too lazy to raise their ass and do something about the situation.
My parents have been poor too.
and they have done something about it.

It's just all the fault of the Parents.
They should make sure their kids go to school.

I wish you had wrote that in the title. I don't think it has to do with education as much as it has to do with culture.

First i was furious and i was shouting nonsense.
Now i just sat down and thought about the problem.
And it's all about the education and their Parents.

You just don't get it.

O.K. try and follow me here. Pretend that you don't have the luxury of parents that make a good living. Pretend that you don't have a nice house and a full stomach.

Now pretend that neither of your parents are ever home because they are out trying to make money. You don't have a nice house, you live in the slums. You are often hungry. You can't aford nice things or even nice clothes to go to school never mind the books and supplies needed or food for a lunch. What is your main proirity? To eat now, or go to school and hope it pays off in 10 years?

You come from a world of priviledge, not everybody has the same choices you have, the sooner you realize that the better.

And I have not confused Belgium with the U.S. However I have been all over the world and have seen the same thing whether it be Canada, the U.S., Belgium, France, China, Saudi Arabia or anywhere else.

This still doesn't explain how ruining other people's cars is gonna help them.

It's on the news, we are talking about it, and the government of France will now have to do something.

But i'm gonna take a nap.
Got 3 big tests comin' up of Latin, maths and biology.
It was very interesting hearing your views on the facts.
I'll think about it.

See you guys tomorrow.

It's called frustration, anger and mob mentality. I doubt very much that they believe that this course of events is going to result in a better life for each of them.

However, I sure issues are now going to be raised that were previously unaddressed until this situation occured.

Yeah absolutely but these hungry kids have enough energy to destroy.......hmm I just hope they get a square meal burning all that energy causing riots....

Don't assume too much of my poition.

If the comparison between the US and Belgium and France are true, then it is most likely true that huge inequities exist. I went to private school my whole life. There were few black students in my school.

There are thousands of public school in my home state that are mostly black. And there are just as many that are mostly white. However, poverty is still a huge problem. Look at the effects of hurricane Katrina. It helped to highlight the inequities between able to afford the tank of gas to get out of town, and not being able to afford it.

So, while you want to suddenly say "see, we agree because the US and Belgium and France have these things in common" it is possible that we have social injustice in common as well.
