USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Rebel Alliance Thread

Started by Ushgarak280 pages

It's a recorded message for your eyes only, from Father Mercator.

...who the hell is Father Mercator?

Eerin nods to Rhys absent-mindedly as he and Kyle move after Rylis and Arvus at a steady pace, waiting for the right moment...

"Father Mercator?" Galahad says, reassuring himself that he is completely alone before running the message.

(Who is Father Mercator? A Rebel figure, I assume?)

Sasha will hang back, then, trying to peer after Ranad as he moves in.

He's looking old. Years older.

But now you think about it, it has been years. And you're older too. Everything is getting older, and nothing is getting better. By the look on his face, Mercator feels the same way. Luckily, his religion forbades anger.

"Senator," he says, in a deadpan voice. He looks directly into the camera with hard-set eyes. The burnt orange sky shines harshly into his office through a window at the back of his office in the Basilica.

"This is a courtesy. And a reminder. I understand you are on Lanzar. Many would call this coincidence. As you know, there is no such thing.

"The reminder is of your promise to help. It's been a long time, Senator. Where is our help? Where is hope for the Galaxy now? Where is the repayment of your debt?

"The courtesy... is to inform you how your legacy still lingers here." He gives a deep sigh. "Senator Sartorus has been appointed to the Mandragos Commission. Hadrumel is an industrial world, Senator. You know what that means.

"I will continue to have faith in Balance. How you feel... is down to your own conscience, Senator."

The message ends, and there is a long silence.

There doesn't seem to be anything new happening at the explosion site.

"Not much left of the device," says Ranad. "Sophisticated, but small. It didn't do anything of significance."

The last of the Senatorial mission is leaving now. Along with the Imperial representatives too; any officers remianing from the Commissar, and Rylis and Arvus.

Galahad's throat tightens as he listens to the message, realizing what Father Mercator has reported to him. He shuts off the device and leans against the wall for a moment.

"This is the Commissar's doing," Galahad snarls quietly to himself, then leaves the room, making after Senator Sartorus with all due speed.

What does Galahad know about the Mandragos Commission? Mercator implies that an industrial leader on the Commission would be a terrible thing...

...that's not good. Sartorus has definitely been bribed...

Can Eerin and Kyle prevent Arvus and Rylis from leaving?

The shuttle containing the Senators left for Revenge five minutes ago.

The Mandraogs commission is... influential. But you don't like to go over it.

And prevent in what way? I doubt it.

I was right! The Commissar did have something to do with Sartorus!

What does such bribery mean in the Senate?

"Pointless explosion?" Sasha replies. "Hmm. It must have been a distraction..."

The Duchess looks around.

"Would someone be wanting into the Guild Hall, do you think?"

People were already IN the Guild Hall.

Not quite sure about your bribery question.

"It wouldn't have been planted if it wasn't going to do something significant." Rhys says coolly as he comes closer. "We just don't know what the significance is yet."

Is there anything about the target site that would stand out from the rest of the area, aside from having been, you know, blown up?

Does Ranad have the remains of the device with him?

"Damn," Galahad says, watching the shuttle disappear from a window. "Sartorus doesn't know what he's done. The fool! He's trading the lives of millions for power...damn him."

Galahad continues glaring out the window, resting against the frame, thinking back to his son's involvement with Mandragos...

He shakes himself of the thoughts. Those were dark times, before the Clones Wars. Nothing has improved.

Is it within the legal capabilities of the Commissar to have placed Sartorus in this position?

There aren't remains of significance.

"Definitely not Osokan technology," he comments. "Not even Imperial military gear is that precise."

No, nothing significant about the target site at all.

"Eerin, what do you think?" Kyle asks as he watches Rylis and Arvel leave. "Crazy or conservative? What's the next step?"

I meant, like, isn't corruption a crime in the Senate?

Are there any other significant buildings in the area? Otherwise, I say we should keep watch on the Guild Hall, from the outside...

"It had to be a distraction," Sasha says. "Such technology is lightly wasted, especially in a public area." She continues to look about for anything of significance, but likely finds nothing.

"[I would like to say crazy]," Eerin says, "[but we need to get them by themselves. If we held them up with a bunch of Imperial personnel around, that would not go well. Conservative for the moment?]"

Sorry, corruption?

No, nothing significant.

Is this one of those instances where I'm assuming more than my character would assume?
