USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Rebel Alliance Thread

Ok guys, you are off!

And just as before, you quickly notice one very unusual thing- the Imps have no air cover. Even the blockade still only has three Squadrons. You are left unmolested to do your stuff.

The Imperial army is, by now, one hour from clearing the jungle and being out by the city. Most of it is as you expect- troops, bokes, Scout Walkers, AT-ATs.

Here's something unusual, though. To the fore of the column are some older pieces that Imperial Armies tend to use less often these days, but were used more in the Clone Wars. Indirect fire weapons- artillery, field rockets, large mortars and the like.

Scarlet flies without any worry once she realizes that there's not a TIE fighter in sight.

"That's dumb of them," Scarlet says to Cass. "No aircover."

She turns the Tip of the Lance upside down so she only has to look up to see the column on the ground.

"Stormtroopers, bikes, blah blah blah," she continues. Then she spots the artillery. "Wait...what's that? Artillery? That's something new. What do you think it's for?"

Those seem threatening. If the Imperial Army does not normally use them, it has to mean that they're meant specifically for a task...

Will all these artillery pieces fit inside the shield? And can they fire over the wall?

If the first, which they can, then yes.

OK then.
I suggest we do the following,
We get an team, Maybe Vassilik's lodge or something, to take skiffs, go out into the jungle now, and when the army comes, they hit the artillery from behind and take them out ASAP. We don't want that artillery blowing and AT-AT sized hole in the wall...

Behind what? Behind the enormous army accompanying them?

The artillery is at the front of the Army, so not really possible to sneak attack it from behind. Also, a straight attack from the front would put us in the firing line of the AT-ATs. How many of those walkers are there, anyways?

And do our chances increase very much if we wait until the artillery is clear of the jungle and we attack from the side of the column?

There are fifteen AT-ATs in total.

And not really, no. A ground assault has all the problem it always had. That's their whole bloody army out there.

I guess all we can do is plan how we're going to take care of those artillery pieces in battle. The catapults could handle those, yeah? What do those roll off of, btw?

"Time to get out of here," Scarlet says, putting the Lance into a sharp turn and jetting back towards the City. "We're coming back in," Scarlet relays to the shield generator's operation station. "Drop the shield for a sec."

In a straight artillery duel, the Imperial pieces would destroy the catapults.

That's a given...

Can Galahad think of any reason why they'd be using this outdated technology? They can fire over the wall, so I'm assuming they'd bombard all our troops within the City...

Also, could Cass and Scarlet possibly set fire to the jungle around the column with torpedos?

Just as with any similar means, it would take weeks or more to bombard out all the defenders in the city.

As to the other suggestion, a. no and b. they don't have any.

they have a plan with the artillery. I'll bet money.

Well it's certainly not a coincidence. Its presence is unusual and hence there must be purpose behind it.

But...but...Scarlet wants torps!

Ah well. Anything else notable about the column?

What's the range of those artillery pieces? Can they hit anything in the City, once positioned?

Didn't you describe your ship as a light fighter?

And no, not really.

I have a feeling they are going to be used to either hit the Shield generators, or blow a hole in the wall?

I found my description of the fighter from October of last year!

I'm not going to cry if having torpedo launchers on the thing don't work out, of course. As long as I have a ship to fly at all! 😄

Hitting the generator sounds like a much better use for artillery than blowing open the wall. The wall's pretty thick as it is.

Plus, the shield is our major tool here. Without it, things will degrade for us. So we're going to have to do all we can to keep those artillery pieces from setting up and getting their job done. Killing off the personnel sounds like the best way.
