"Don't worry about me," Scarlet says to the others before switching power out of the communications. "Rhys, Cass, get back into the City. I'll get there, don't worry."

Scarlet turns off the comms and concentrates on bringing the Lance's nose up, to bring it to a grinding, fiery halt on its belly on the stretch between the Imperial Army and the City.

Eerin watches with a hint of sadness as he sees the Lance spiral to the ground.

"[Damn. We tried.]"

Well, Scarlet can be picked up. There's not much I can do for your ship, I am afraid.

This fight would seem to be over. Nice try, but unfortunately I have to term it a failure- that second artillery unit should have been destroyed.

Scarlet watches longingly after her ship, knowing it will be confiscated or demolished by the oncoming Imperial Army.

"I'm sorry, Dad," Scarlet says, quietly to herself. "I'm not the pilot you were."

She seats herself in Rhys's co-pilot chair and comandeers the comm unit, allowing Rhys to focus on his flying as they head for the City.

"Scarlet here," she says. "Lower the shield, we're coming in. Everyone's fine."

As the Rebel ships come into land, something unexpected- to just about everyone- happens.

A series of large explosions is rocking the city. Their sudden ferocity is exceptionally loud; every building shakes.

"Where is that coming from?!" Galahad asks, supporting himself against a wall as everything is shaken violently.

High-powered lasers. But causing explosions that large? That can only be... an orbital bombardment!

(It strikes me now that messing up the SD's would have been more useful than taking out artillery first. So, now what?)

The target is the shield generator.

Right as we passed through the shield? That's low.

...Or should the shield have been switched back on by now?

It was only down for a few seconfs, and the firing started before it went down, to go through the moment it did.

Very well planned- and set up well in advance

Much as I hate to say this- but the SDs moved together to get a better concentration of firepower... during your attack up there. Good cover.

Here's the kicker, is it destroyed?

Shield comes up a few seconds later, so no...

Is it damaged significantly? Like, it's not impaired to the shield will flicker during the battle, right?

Eerin recovers from the shaking of the City, leaning against the embattlements as the ships fly in overhead.

"[Dammit]," Eerin hisses, looking from the wall out into the City, towards the shield generator.

The generator has sustained severe damage.

Meanwhile, the Imperial forces are moving into position.

(Anyone here know enough to guess how long it migtht hold?)

Here's a better question by far: A fair few of us have Fix-It, is there any chance it can be, well... fixed?

Fix-iIt might have removed the instability earlier that was flagging up to the Imperials when it was about to tutrn on or off.

Now, all it can tell you is that:

a. You will have to turn it off to fix it

b. You need parts you don't have

c. You;d probably be killed by the bombardment the Imperials have just started on that area of the city.

Boooom....

There's nothing we can do to stabilize the shield generator. We're going to have to keep them out of the City the good old fashioned way- we shoot them. Lots of them.

Scarlet runs out of Rhys' freighter and starts heading towards the wall, sniper rifle strapped across her back and pistols in hand.

"You guys coming to the war?" she asks, turning to look at Kyle and Rhys.
