"That's easy; there isn't a Lodge Master alive who doesn't think he should be Guildmaster. And times lately have not exactly been one of respect for the system. Drakkon's got enough on his side to stay in his position but there are plenty that would see the war start all over again. 'scuse me..." he adds, as he grabs Kyle's order.

No-one seems nervos about being here- these people are all really tough types. Buying drinks seems to go down well with them, but it seems just about everyone here is trading; Lanzar has become a good place to make money.

(that sound was the Free Trader's ears pinging to attention...)

-

Galahad- it's already arranged, they'll accept you. You don't have Ties to the Senate for nothing, you know; it's all official.

Some Senatorial Guards there welcome you, and direct you towards the Main Hunting Lodge- Drakkon's residence, and also where the Senators are staying, at the highest part of the city.

Kai will lookfor the richest looking humaniod there. (He's got better clothes than the others, jewlery, etc.

I'm looking for some kind of Han Solo type...
Hmmm, what do you think Max?

Rhys buys Frank a drink to get the bartender's attention back. "Does Drakkon have any one main adversary among the Lodge Masters? Y'know, someone he... dislikes above all the others?"

No obviously rich people here I am afraid- they are all in travelling gear.

You guys ar ethe closest to Han Solo types, but I can;t give you any more unless I know what you are looking for.

"I wouldn't know anything about that," says the bartender, firmly.

"[What about that Matadan feller?]" Eerin asks, his gurgling clicking language needing to be translated by Kyle. He has been sitting with Kyle, Rhys, and Frank.

"Never mind about him," he says.

"[I take it he's dead then...]" Eerin says. He produces a flask from his belt and takes a swig. "[I'll take a strong spirit...whatever you've got.]"

"Take it however you like," says the barman

(PW- NOT the greatest social class)

"Matadan's alive, isn't he?" Rhys says quietly to the bartender. "And I'm guessing from your reaction that he's Drakkon's biggest problem."

Kyle had been nursing his drink, whatever it was, and simply listening in on the conversation. When Rhys asked that last question, though, he surreptitiously slipped his hand close to his blaster. Kyle liked a guy who cut straight to the point like that. Trouble was, alot of other people didn't. Of course, the onery part of him couldn't wait to see what happened next.

Disregard previous post, Ush.

(Don't let what I typed change your mind. It might get interesting!)

"Hah! Matadan? A problem? Everyone hated him as Guildmaster. Who would throw in their lot behind his name? Anyway, I'd be careful, Drakkon takes opposition to his rule real personal, you know? So everyone in sight of his Guild Lodge," he says, indicating through the window to the tall structure beyond, "keeps it all smiles and happiness."

Hmm... OK, lesse...
Well here's what I'm thinking, Since they've got the osokan side of affairs, I think we shoudl look into what the outsider's think about it. A smuggler's opinion. Now I want someone who knows the place, and won't shoot us if we sit down next to him...

Scarlet wants to go chat it up with some of the non-Osokans in the bar, if she could.

"[Oh, I wouldn't say we have a problem with him, not at all]," Eerin says, wishing to make it clear that they're not here to bugger up his rule. "[Do you think he'll have the title Guildmaster for a long time? It seems he's better liked than that old Imperial puppet Matadan.]"

(Here's my opinion on how we should be handling the social situation at the moment- being direct and asking obvious questions is not at all subtle. It's also could be unsafe to discuss so openly, which might be why the barkeep is being quiet and not directly answering questions. What we should be doing is /not/ asking these questions, but instead trying to get information via subtler sources, like small talk. We should be asking questions that have no harm in them, ones that don't matter much. What it's like to own a bar in this place, sights to see, markets to sell at, etc. Finding out how the Lodgemasters and Guildmasters are, be they alive, dead, fighting off rivals en-masse, etc. should be a lot easier when we're not asking suspicious questions. We just have to be subtle about it. Not sure how well that will apply to this game, but... well, it seems to make sense to me.

Right now, I'm /really/ wishing I hadn't chosen to play a giant smashy death machine alien who can't talk...)
