USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Imperial Thread

"So shall we discuss facts, or do you only want to insult me and my Emperor? What is your impression of the situation regarding Drakkon?"

"That was a fact, Commissar. And those not blinded by their lust for power would recognise that in being an elected leader makes Drakkon no dictator. He has brought peace to Lanzar after decades, and we in the Senate can make sure it lasts."

"Why should I believe that Drakkon brought lasting peace? Are all Osokans happy with his leadership?'

"Are all subjects of the Empire happy with the Emperor's? I am sure you are no making total happiness a prerequisite for lasting peace, Commissar."

"So, is there currently any opposition to Drakkon that could resort to violence to oppose him? And what about his past crimes, shall it be conpletely overlooked? I am here to help, Emperor wants Lanzar to be stable, so hiding the truth about the situation is useless course of action. Having the majority isn`t everything. If someone is elected by 501 people, and remaining 491 want to kill him, does it bring peace? " -
Melkor seems finally a bit irritiated, a good-willing man whose help is unjustly rejected.

"Crimes have to be proven. As for possible future armed resistance, it is impossible to rule anything out- any more than the Emperor can with regards to his rule. And to be elected by a majority is better than to not be elected at all."

"So how do you perceive the current political situation on Lanzar? You seem to be overtly optimistic without proving your points."

"What more proof do I need? There was war before, now there is none. Andran's doing, There was chaos before, now we see a planet returning to stability. That is Drakkon's doing. Now the Senatorial Commission can make that permanent. The results will stand as all the proof I need."

"We shall see whether there will be lasting results. I wanted to speak with a knowledgable Senator, but with all due respect, you act like Andran`s propagandist. Will you at least tell me how the negotiations went?"

Janthis listens to Drakkon speaking and is impressed with his intelligence.

"And you act like the Emperor's lapdog! The negotiations were hard, but Andran is exceptionally experienced in such areas. He found room for compromise."

"Did the Lodge Masters participate in the negotiations?"

"If Drakkon invites them."

"Were they invited?"

"Sometimes."

"So they are willing to support the agreement?

Also, on the agreement draft Andran gave me, some issues seemed to not have been finalized. What are the main difficulties?( OOC: I have to find this post, right?)"

I have found it:

"Melkor- the agreement in draft form is bound up with endless amounts of legalese, but it mainly what you were told it was. The conditions are this:

1. A referendum be held to check if people accept that Matadan was elected unfairly. This referendum will be monitiored by the Senate

2. After this, any openly criminal activities taken by any Osokan will be punished within the remit of the law on Lanzar, again under observation

3. A new set of elections will be held in order to legitimise authority on Lanzar, also monitored

4. After this, Lanzar will once more be a proper Imperial world.

Should any of the conditions be breached, the matter will have to be settled forcibly.

The bit that is not quite finished yet, preventing the team from simply declaring success, is number 3."

So I will ask about the condition number 3.

"That's very simple," says Ardonel. "Drakkon objected to outsiders making him run fior election again; he already considers himself legitimate leader of Lanzar. Andran is simply working out a compromise by which it can happen."

"What were the circumstances of the election that brought Drakkon to power?"

"The previous Guildmaster died. Except by unanimous declaration by the Lodge Masters, that is the only circumstance in which elections are called on Lanzar. It was Matadan's refusal to accept such a declaration that precipitated the war."
