USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Imperial Thread

Ah, damn.

Well, Coll will proceed with his meeting, then...

If the Duchess doesn`t seem to be interested in conversation, than I will have the meeting now. I have been waiting too long anyway.

Actually, if this Vasilisk is willing to speak at all, I wil pursue him a bit. But only if it seems like he may talk to me.

He doesn't seem to be around when you get inside.

Inquiries quickly reveal he is a Lodge Master, though.

Senators, then......

First up is Senator Ardonel of Caspia. Yoyr aide has provided information for you, but this one is tricky. Ardonel is new to the Senate, and this appointment is a bit of a coup for her. She's rather young for a Senator.

Caspia is an agricultural world in the Mid-Rim. Also a Clone War battlefield (the Confederacy often targetted agricultural worlds very harsly. Their army being robotic, their war effort needed a lot less food, so they would fight on such worlds meaning that even if they lost, food supplies for the Republic would be affected). Like worlds such as Alderan, Caspia was hardly aggressive before the war, and the war itself has sent them almost entirely pacifist.

Does she look human?

Melkor will show as much courtesy as possible, and apropariate for the woman from such culture.

"I would like to congratulate you on this appointment. It is a great responsibility, as well as opportunity for a new Senator. Entire galaxy watches us, as well as His Majesty, to whom this mission is of great importance. He shall take note of all the people involved, and those aiding the Imperial Order shall feel his gratitude.

The culture of your world is of great value to the Galaxy, as you always stood on the side of Peace. Yet, sometimes there are those who bring suffering and pain despite any reason, those that can only be reasoned with brute force. I know about the tragedies of Caspians during the Clone War. There could be no peace with the Confederacy, only the will and resolve of Emperor Palpatine saved us and now he still strives to maintain order in the galaxy.

Lanzar has long suffered from the barbaric and violent ways of its inhabitants. It was always one of the weak links in the Republic, and even the Jedi couldn`t bring lasting peace to Lanzar. While I wish Andran`s efforts to suceed, I have doubt if any single treaty can change the entire society. Will fighting not resume between Drakkon and his enemies when we all leave this world? Osokans need powerful motivation to change their ways, and according to my understanding they are unlikely to take those efforts seriously if not backed by some considerable force, just as the Confederacy of Independent Systems couldn`t be stopped by diplomatic efforts alone.

So tell me please, Senator, what do you think on the situation here and Andran`s efforts?

( I am making an extended Observation roll during the Conversation. I will spend Fortune Point if the roll is bad.)

Yes, the Senatorial delegation is all Human- does that change your approach at all?

No, this is even better for Esgabath.

I'll carry on with that soon, once Coll gets started (Drakkon is staring at you silently, Coll, waiting for you to speak; he is upon his thorn and bodyguards are all around) but one might reasonably ask WHY they are all Human?

The answer is because this is an OT game! Just inda the way it works. Nearly everyone who needs to communicate is Human, and the Osokans and non-human players form the only exceptions for this game. By contrast, the Senatorial gathering in the upcoming Jedi PT Episode IV will be a cornocopia of weird species.

Any Ush creations among them? 😛

In any case, General Coll will step up, presumably having handed over his blaster, as well as Janthis's.

"Greetings, Guildmaster Drakkon," he says. "I have come to seek court with you, and I see I have managed to gain it."

He pauses.

"I hear you are a magnificent hunter and warrior, Guildmaster. One to inspire legends..."

Janthis will stand behind Coll and just to his left.

Janthis will also observe the room looking at the humans trying to find anything out of the ordinary.

(Apologies for recent RP slowness- been on a course in London)

"I didn't get where I am by mere posturing," says Drakkon. "I am Guildmaster of Lanzar. To be a legendary Hunter is part of my very nature. How did you get to where you are, a General of your Emperor?"

Drakkon's speech patterns are noticably sophisticated for an Osokan.

-

You don't need the Fortune spend, Melkor- she doesn't like you, it is fairly plain.

"The Republic could not bring lasting peace to Lanzar because the Senate was allowed to become greedy and selfish. it is not the only world that was so failed. I remember the lessons of Droben well. I saw what the Imperial forces did to Droben. Still counting the dead, I believe. Andran warned it would happen, and he was right. Now it is his turn."

Senator Andran will talk to the Squadron Leader involved in the blockade, if Trebeis is not available...

Trebeis is Available.

Setting hmself, Trebeis steps upon the Projection field. His face carries a look that implies barely contained violence....

"Senator?"

"Captain," says Senator, with a nod of his head. "You are aware, of course, that this world is currently under Senatorial jurisdiction. That being the case, I need the incident report for the recent hostilities that took place in orbit. Please transfer me the communications log for the time of the incident."

"I am sure we all learned from this lesson, Senator Ardonel. But I fear that some of us may have come to wrong conclusions." -There is something sublty sinister in Esgabath`s voice now, then it quickly returns to the kindly tone.

"You seem to trust Andran, then. And Andran trusts Drakkon, cunning and violent dictator who ascended to power through the corpse of his predecessor. How firmly Drakkon has things under control, I wonder? And is there still any significant opposition against him? Perhaps Andran will proclaim his victory, but shall it stop Lanzar from returning to violence?"

"Funny," says Ardonel. "What you say about Drakkon, some people would say about the Emperor. Maybe he forgets, the Trade Federation once occupied his own world, and were rightfully overthrown by violence. So it was here. Andran will bring peace to Lanzar. it is those like you who offer only violence."

"You disappoint me with your simplistic conclusions Senator. Violence is just a tool, an extension of diplomacy. In order for the galaxy-wide goverment to be effective, both subtle and blunt methods have to be used. If order to maintain order in the galaxy, we can`t afford sentiments. Better for individual, or perhaps for entire world to suffer, if it helps to stop galaxy from returning to chaos and darkness.

Comparing the greatest leader in the galaxy since thousand years, perhaps the greatest ever, with the barbaric chief is nothing but outrageous, but I will not respond to your insults, I would like to speak about facts. I am impressed by your belief in Andran, though I would say that he is just an old fox, playing his game to control the Senate. Peace is a very cheap word, word that politicians of the Republic loved to use to cover their weaknesses. You see, exceptional individuals sometimes have to manipulate those around them, because those lesser individuals can`t see with their clarity, and are not always ready to fully understand their vision, just as Emperor did when he was Supreme Chancellor. Perhaps Andran and Emperor are not fundamentally diffrent from each other from the certain point of view?

But let`s speak about facts. Is Drakkon a dictator or not? Does the fact that you oppose Emperor`s methods excuse you and Andran from supporting Drakkon and covering his crimes? Or is everything justified as means to an end in Andran`s game?"

I am trying to get her off-balance here.

"I'll tell you a fact that is a difference between both Andran and Drakkon alike, compared with the Emperor. Both were elected inside the last few years. Whereas your Emperor clings to power using emergency legislation that was questionable when introduced. It is more than two decades later now, Commissar. Don't expect an elected representative to have any respect for such a being. Andran is a great man,. Men like you are petty in comparison."
