USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Imperial Thread

"Well, I've been way out in the Outer Rim," Arvus says. "Not exactly a place to be in touch with the Galaxy."

Arvus takes a sip of his drink. "Anything come of those negotiations?"

Hmm... not quite good enough on your lying roll there. He's not being very helpful.

He shrugs.

"Fighting has stopped, hasn't it? I suppose that's something."

I know we are somewhat lacking in the Trick/Lana area... but we'll have to move on from what you can usefully gain from the bar soon.

At the taskforce, final preparations are complete. With a mighty roar, the engines activate and the ships plunge into hyperspace.

I still don`t know much on the political situation on Lanzar.... I would be at disadvantage while contacting Senators.

And Agent Lyle has 3 points higher Lying score than Arvus....

Well, Alana is in the next room. Playing KOTOR. 🙄

I'll go kick her into posting.

Well then, we're here to hopefully sell to the Osokans, I suppose. Sorry, I'm having a bit of trouble getting to a computer at the moment.

Well, Arvus can't use that story any more, as he is pretending ignorance of events on Lanzar.

It's just that as you actually brought the guns, I had imagined you were going to actively make use of that excuse to be here, not just say it, which could be done with simple Lying rolls.

Standing on the bridge of the Deviator, General Coll watches the stars streak and then become lines as the ship enters hyperspace.

"So it begins..."

Indeed, though it still seems as if your advance efforts have stalled.

During the journey, Melkor, your aide brings you some more of the information you requested about Imperial/Osokan relations.

A lot of this seems to reach back into some of Palpatine's activities before the Clone Wars. The problem is, the legality of much of this at the time was... questionable (though of course, justified in light of the Emperor's overall plan). You have no problem with that, it just meant that record keeping was a little sketchy sometimes. This 'Bureau' that seemed to run the relationship with the Osokans kept meticulous records, but records that were designed to be seen, rather than ones that spoke much about what they were actually doing.

There is a trail of events here- but there is a snag. It seems that the Bureau was only really able to control the Osokans with the help of their old Guildmaster Rogan. He, in turn, provided many fine services for the Bureau- including hunting down fair numbers of criminals and terrorists. But the last known tag you have on Rogan is him beginning an operation to track down a particularly dangerous group of criminals who had raided Republica space on the planet of Newhaven.

Here's the snag. When you try to look at the chronology of events, they are inevitably tied into Rogan and the Bureau trying to catch these criminals. Much to your astonishment, from that point onwards, all information about their activities is calssified beyond your clearance. Seieng as your clearance is as high as it goes, that means that it exists at the level where only the Emperor can see it- and anyone he feels like showing it to at the time.

The only vague reference you can find at all is a note about having to put an Imperial garrison on the planet Gonderkorro at some point. You don't even know if it was ever done.

The trail doesn't pick up again until ater Rogan is dead- in fact, the record begins about the time the Clone Wars start, at which point those Osokans still working for the Bureau were given final training before going into operational service, and Lanzar itself plunged into war. Everyone was so busy during the Clone Wars, the Bureau (which ceased to exist during that conflict) didn't notice how much Lanzar had slipped out of control- but it is clear there was much resentment against outsider interference and the Osokans had no qualms in isolating themselves.

After that, we have the story of Matadan's rise to power, backed by Palpatine, and then we are more or less up to where you are now. Basically... any Osokan that ever might have had good relations with the Empire is long dead.

Tricky. A lot of the past wrapped up here- you suspect the Emperor wants it all buried (or burned) forever.

You are just finishing report when the Commodore makes the announcement to the fleet as a whole to be on battle stations and aggressive posture when the taskforce enters Lanzar space, and to prepare for blockade. He also instructs armed forces to prepare for deployment.

Wait. Wasn`t the current plan to wait with the blockade till we have some kind of excuse? Can I get a Law check on this matter, with my Aide searching the Database for relevant precedents and legal acts( which I hope could provide a bonus to the roll.)

That's simple enough- it's completely illegal without cause.

General Coll frowns.

"Deploy the armed forces? We may prepare them, but we can't deploy them. It's too soon."

"Aye, that is worth noting." Arvus puts his credits down for the drink and asks for another. "Though, it could stir up again. The Empire wouldn't like that, I 'spose. Is it true that they're intervening? Bit extreme, ain't it? I heard rumors o' that from a man I chatted with when I came in."

I assume you are talking to yourself, Coll, because the Commodore isn't in conversation with anyone.

"People talk," says the bartender, shrugging. "Who knows what will happen?"

I shall contact Commodore on the matter( I assume it is not difficult to simply find him as we are on the same ship). But I remember that I clearly said that blockade will begun when I decide it is suitable, and he didn`t oppose it during the meeting.

By the way, I am disatisfied with the Advance Team. Your only orders so far was to gather information, and I still don`t know much about the political situation, like who is opposing Drakkon.

Yes, I am.

(He was getting suspicious, Melkor, but I'll try again...)

"Only a prophet," Arvus says, laying down more credits. He passes over a few more than he should. "So, who, exactly, is opposing Drakkon? I'm sure there's money to be made if they met an untimely demise."

Trebeis nods at the com-link in his hand, and relay the Command to the Bridge of the Deviator. All Personnel to their Battle stations. All around the ship, inactive components came to life as commands were relayed from gunnery positions to turrets and the like. The Corridors were suddenly filled with what could be called "Organised Chaos" As thousands suddenly began rushing to their stations. In the Hangers, loud humming began as Systems were checked and rechecked on the Drop Ships, Fighters and Bombers. Pilots rushed to their craft. All waited for the Star-lines to fade back into stars. Through it all, the Captain smiled to himself. Turning to the General Coll- He enquired "Brilliant, is it not? One never gets tired of watching these men perform their tasks with such precision and Order. It is a thing unmatched by any other force in the Galaxy."

"But we have no reason to be performing this yet!" Vantos says to Captain Trebeis. "If we blockade the planet without reason, the Senate will be most displeased."

"They may very well be displeased. That however, matters not to us. We will perform our orders. If the Senate is displeased, it will be our superiors that hear of it- Not us." He swept his gaze quickly around the Bridge, and continued "Besides, what will they do about it?" And laughed deeply.
