USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Imperial Thread

No, you are right, Zink, he IS getting suspicious. You don't think simply firing off more questions will help- even with the bribery. He just repeats a few comments again about how most of the Lodge Masters would be Guildmaster if they could.

Trebeis, he's ordered battlestations upon arrival- that's still a few hours away. You can start preparations, of course.

Well, Nidar was heavily in favour of a bloackade and was put out when you said no, Melkor, But he answers your call.

"How can I help, Commissar?"

"How advanced are the preparations for blockade and armed forces deployment, Commodore? I will try to influence political situation so we can commence with blockade, and perhaps with invasion, as soon as possible. But I can`t give you an exact time. I would also like to enquire how precise the attack from space may be."

"Preparations for blockade should be completel by the time we arrive, Commissar. At which point I recommend the blockade begin immediately. I have received information that makes such action necessary."

"What kind of information, Commodore?"

"I am led to understand that rebel terrorists have arrived on Lanzar."

"Are you confident in this information? What is known about those terrorists?"- Melkor`s voice is still calm, but an amount of intensity appears.

Ush, can the presence of terrorists justify the blockade?

Well, the PRESENCE of them certainly could.

"I know nothing more than what I have said. And I always have confidence in communications that come from the Imperial Palace..."

What?! He got communication from Imperial Palace but not me?! -"I would prefer to receive some kind of proof before we commence the blockade. As you see, Terrorist presence helps our situation from political point of view."

I will contact Advance Team:

"I heard about Rebel terrorists being present on Lanzar. If you can find them, it would be useful. And you haven`t made any report yet, what have you learned?"

(Well, that is odd...)

Arvus will step out of the bar to receive Esgabath's transmission.

"I'll be right back," he says to the bartender, leaving a few credits for another drink.

He pulls out his comlink and listens to Esgabath.

"Rebels, on Lanzar? I should have known. And we haven't learned anything of much use; there are Lodge captains who think they would be more capable as Guildmaster than Drakkon, but I haven't gotten any specific names. I'm an assassin, you know, not an interrogation droid."

Arvus thinks for a moment.

"The bartender mentioned a group asking him similar questions about the political climate here on Lanzar. I wonder...Esgabath, I will get back to you."

Arvus will go back into the bar and slide over a few more credits.

"You said there was a group of offworlders asking you questions yesterday," Arvus says. "Tell me about them."

No, I am afraid that is not possible; the Advance team must be on their ship to receive a message from you. Furthermore, as they are there undercover, it is protocol to send no message at all, lest it be noticed.

"Regard for nicities such as 'proof' may well result in allowing rebel terrorist activity to continue," says Nidar.

Yeah, we hsould clearly try and pick up on the off-worlders.

BTW, here's the cover. We're gunrunners, who have just lost our customers (due to the Empire arresting/killing them or them simply becoming too scared to deal in weaponry) and now we're looking for new ones. Having heard of the trouble on Lanzar, we've come to see if there's any possibilty of supplying weapons to the Osokans, or any other factions that wouldn't be able to openly acquire weapons.

I also think false names would be in order, especially for those with reputations, though if Lana's ship is part of her reputation, I suppose that's more difficult.

Ush, is the rest of the advance team in the bar?

I guess so.

Ush, if we present proof that Rebel terrorists are on the planet post factum, will we be able to avoid the Sympathy loss?

And I assume I can send an encrypted message? My aide is proficient in coding, as I mentioned.

Well, as they are working undercover and awaiting your arrival, I really don't see any reason why any of them would go back to their ships in case you sent a message, unless you arranged that in advance which you did not.

And technically yes... but you would have to do it within the timeframe of the game and that would be extremely difficult.

We didn't take my ship for that precise reason, because it could be too recognizable.

And speaking of that, exactly how recognizable does Rylis's reputation make her?

And oh yes, something else I'd like to throw in....I'd think it'd be best (and easiest to get info) if the four of us aren't all togther. Trick said that Lyle's with Arvus, so obviously the two of them are in the same place, but it'd probably be best if Rylis and Karn were elsewhere - a different bar. Different information sources, and the fact that Arvus isn't doing too good at getting info right now wouldn't hinder us.

(Wait a second...Lana posted? And Trick? Amazing! 😛 )

Hmm, so could Arvus head back to chatting with S&V about possible connections that could lead to a weapons' sale?

Coll holds a very grim face. "As long as we are figures that spearhead this mission, I am certain Esgabath can easily sow blame wherever he wishes. It pays to be a personal contact of the Emperor. Anyways, the Senate can do much to take the brightness out of our futures as military men. The Imperial Senate is far quicker than the Republic Senate, seeing as they no longer bicker like children; they could imprison us quickly, unless the Emperor decides that we should be spared. We would have to catch him in a generous mood."

Coll looks off through a port. "Of course, they could always just send Lord Vader after us," he says, with a bit of a sarcastic chuckle.

Amongst these scummy types, Rylis- VERY.

There are no other non-Osokan bars around, is the issue, so that one near the starport is the best one to get info from.

You can make a roll on that, Arvus... which goes well. Weapons sales on Lanzar are a bit of a rarity- who has weapons Osokans want? They make all the ones they like, and shun everything else. Whoever heard of an Osokan with a blaster?

That's how it was, anyway. But since Matadan's rise to power, a number of the lodges have shown an interest in arms acquisition.

But that's all for nothing now, because Drakkon is squeezing the Lodges' finances like anything. He's taking nearly all their money, and they aren't buying any more.

-

Actually, Coll, the Senate bickers as much as it ever did- the main advantage the Military and Planetary Governors have over it. However, they do tend to suddenly round as one on a target when they can get away with it. It would never have the guts to censure the Emperor, of course, but they'll go for his cronies.
