Heh, yeah, animal laws like that are a bit too petty to worry about even with the Senate around. More precisely, though, the law is about hunting them, not killing them. If they come at you it is different.
Mind you, Atar did make the point that if you start destroying large areas of the Jungle (like via a march), which is definitely illegal, even though it would be a petty complaint it would still bugger up the 'training exercise' excuse.
