Charles Soule (IMO) went from "who is this guy and why is everyone repping him" to the top of "overhyped and trite".

A book about Superman and Wonder Woman and the best plotline he can find is "Hey Superman I know you have been a superhero for more time than me and you punch villains on a daily basis, but here's mommy to teach you martial arts!"

LOL
That's it?
Also maybe he should read some other current stuff that state Superman and the JL are trained and the most professional fighting force on the friggin planet (as admitted by both Argus and the goverment).

Finally I never believed that WW is even in the top 5 of most powerful Earth heroes (maaaaaybe she finally can claim that now she is a demi god), so for me this book just misses so many marks.

It felt more than fanfiction than an actual professional comic.

The whole SM/WW relationship feels like a fanfiction from Geoff Johns which he couldn't write at all so he threw it to Soule. Soule freely admitted in his interview that this relationship has no future at all and Johns is implying that its going to end in a train-wreck sooner or later.

The difference is that Johns wouldn't use third rate cheap @ss shots at Superman to emphasize another character's strengths.

We know Nu Superman can read an entire library in seconds.
We know he has been a hero (using melee combat as his primary offense) for more time than nearly any other character in the DCnU.
We know the big 7 of the JL have directly been stated as the most professional fighting force on the DCnU Earth by the foremost authority on these matters (ARGUS).

And yet according to this issue Soule
a) didn't have any idea about it.
b) probably thought reducing Superman to a guy who is a chump without his powers would do what? Create intrigue? Make us consider WW as a more important character? Explain why Supes and WW are together? What?

If creating non existent contrived plot points is his strong suit, then I'm also sure this book won't last long.
He should read Pak's Supes/Bats (I disliked the first issue and I'm still not big on the art but at least he gets the character's better and feels more professiona in his writing).

Oh well.
I'll be waiting for the issue where WW trains with Supes and tells him how puny he is without his powers and how a granny with one prior karate lesson would own him.

What the $hit is this $hit?

Thanos doesn't have one.

You have this backwards. The argument isnt that BB should have done better than Galactus. Your previous argument was that we should have all expected Thanos to no-sell this because he has survived things that were arguably worse - despite the fact that pretty much anything that falls in this category was pretty devastating to him. IMO its akin to trying to justify a showing where Hulk laughs while Thor pounds him as hard as he can with Mjolnir based on the fact that he once got beaten up in a fight with Zeus. One thing doesnt follow from the other. Thanos being much less than Galactus doesnt tell us anything about whether or not he should tank the voice.

We just have different estimates of the upper limit of the scream attack. Godblast >>> Scream. It's not like he's never used the attack. We have a good idea of what it does. It's par with some other good HH attacks. But that's about it. Thanos eats attacks like that for breakfast.

No hard feelings. But nothing I see here to convince me it wasn't portrayed well. Good showing for Big T, no doubt. But not shocking.

Next time Boltagon will be ready and have Clint on his side

Ah, so that's what Quan means when he says "I'm Thanos" 😱

Thanos looks so small in that scene.

His true form.

😂

I've always seen BB's scream as a low-Trans-lvl attack from a low-herald (if you exclude the scream) being. The fact that Thanos tanked it like a boss, however, doesn't take away from it, IMO. Thanos has always shown an extremely high durability vs energy attacks (shrugging off point blank attacks from Surfer like nothing, taking direct hits from a Gungir wielding Odin, etc.). Props on Thanos. Helluva "feat".

Also, how is it possible for Thanos to be taken by the Elders and then appearing in Infinity? Was there ever an explanation on how he got free or was the one the Avengers took down just another clone?

Thanos is a solid high trans-level character. Of course he's going to tank screams from BB(which, I agree, are low trans-level.)

Don't get me wrong, it is still a very impressive durability feat-- it just shouldn't have surprised anyone, is what I'm saying. /shrug

Odin needs to breath unlike the Silver Surfer.

Odin should be placed in mid herald range at best. 😮‍💨

To be fair, we don't actually know it would work. And Odin has existed in space before. Maybe he needs to invoke his powers, maybe it's bad writing. Anyway, amusing moment, but it doesn't really smack of "Ownage" to me.

Thanos being above heralds.
What's new about that? And he bled a lot from the screams, still took them like a baws (a bleeding one but still).

That true enough... I'm just a huge BB fan and thought very highly of the potential of a full on scream. Butr this, combined with the Vulcan fight shows that as of right now, it's a devastating attack, but not the coupe de grace that most of us had once thought it would be...

And yes, Thanos has personally dealt with two solid mid heralds now in his latest return. Black Bolt and Nova Prime. Apparently in Nova#7 Thanos said he had "already dealt with Rider". I just hope that Richie gave a better showing than the King did...

Captain America wins any foot race.

Also, this issue of Deadpool was so sad. 🙁 Deadpool better get his revenge.

Nice thanks Rage.

The Nova fight took place off panel? I seen where he had Nova trophies but nothing was hinted at death.

Those are the uniform and helmets of the Black Novas, these new versions. Not the old school gold domes like Richard and Co...

Yeah, the fight took place off panel... But Thanos didn't say that he'd killed Richard. Only that he had "dealt" with him, which could mean a number of things. There are scans floating around where Richard is shown yelling out to Star Lord. Also, starlord when asked about Richard he seems to always get a guilt ridden face. So I'm guessing whatever happened to Rich, Quill and Thanos both know it must've been pretty foul.

There's also a rumor/theory floating around that Thanos just straight up absorbed the Nova Force and WM from Richard. Someone on another forum pointed out this interesting tidbit:

It's a wild theory - but having taken a look at the splash page in GOTG 5 - unless its just artistic license on Sara Pichelli's part - if you take a real close look at the modifications to Thanos' Starlin gear, the usual spandex has been replaced by interlocking armor plating which "resembles" the same style of the Annihilation armor. Plus the positioning of the additional energy roundels does suggest Xandarian tech. Thanos had three of Richard's round starbursts shining through his suit in, I believe, issue #5 of Guardians of the Galaxy. And If you look in Guardians #6, you will notice the two starbursts on Thanos' collar bones.

But as far as I know they are only showing these glowing vent ports in Guardians of the Galaxy - not in any other Infinity related titles. I guess that's because Bendis is dealing with that aspect of the story.
