I could be wrong, but in the Revenge of the Sith novelization, I could have sworn the narration cited Obi-Wan in being one of the greatest swordsmen of his age. I'm also pretty sure Windu himself stated this at one point or another, too. In any case, it's not like he sucked or anything.
So yeah, Obi wasn't just good, he was astonishing. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know wtf they are talking about.

I'm pretty sure nothing is going to happen this entire event. Maybe Galactus might be shown standing around in a different location. Maybe the heroes will talk some more. And then the last issue something will start to happen, and bam, plot device.
