You don't want him back because he might acquire low showings. 😬
Nope, not what I'm saying. I don't think anyone would write the character like Pak did. It can be at a steady pace, as long as he remain the threat Pak kept him at. Kind of like Prime. He remained consistent throughout his run and then gets destroyed by the titans. I don't care if they write him destroying Heralds or not...as long as he is on a consistent level and the character isn't ruined, then I'm fine with that. Looking at writers these days, that ain't going to happen so they need to leave the character where he's at in viewers eyes, a beast.

So Phantom Stranger had the oppertunity to kill Bright but didn't take it?
No. Phantom Stranger tried to negate Blight with the love of Hayzeus. But the only thing that Jesus-love did was momentarily drive Blight out of its human host(and by momentarily I mean, like, for 2 panels.)

Banner's personalities shift. They have throughout his entire career. And World War Hulk is a persona that already had its time. Pak told his story.Waid bringing him up during the Agent of T.I.M.E. storyline is more than enough. Never go full flopflop.
Not just under Pak, although his run was obviously the most impressive, but also from before, even going back to Peter David with him realising that he is not getting rid of The Hulk, that The Hulk isn't necessarily a "bad" thing and has a mind and a sense of honour and ethics and is far removed from a mindless monster, to actively using meditation and yoga and aboriginal dream therapies to access The Hulk and come to some sort of harmony with that aspect of himself.
There's a lot of continuity going back atleast to the 90's.
Aaron did an abrupt shift in the realisation of an unhinged, insecure and dangerous Banner, but he brought this about as a result of The Hulk separating himself from Banner (something that had not been explored before) and what exactly that left of Banner as a result.
Once they were brought back together, Banner should have carried on with something like the same relationship with The Hulk that he had under Pak.
It's just jarring that Hulk is now again a mindless "bomb" to be dropped on whatever sorry individual has upset SHIELD and Banner is constantly stressing over how Hulk is holding him back, how he won't get the recognition he deserves (as if AvX was the first time Reed & Tony had been the brains that saved the world) as a big brain...
It's like his actions during the whole Inteligencia arc never happened, as if Hulk hasn't been a warrior and king and saviour all with Banner's support and respect.
Also, still no bloody reason why Hulk is wearing that stupid armour.
The Celestials got sodomised on Hickman's watch. The Builders, in their turn, got shat on, once they had been suitably built-up. Infinity was a damp squib and one that messed up Marvel cosmology almost as badly as Pak's Chaos Wars.

VERY well said, my friend.
You just capsulated the frustration of a nation of Hulk Fans.
I had the same knee-jerk response to Loeb's Hulk run. He took his turn at flushing Hulk's continuity down the toilet as well.
Pak set things back on right path with HotM... then Waid came along and stole a play from Loeb's book. Bah.
I'm hoping, with cautious optimism, that Waid will actually write a decent "Hulk" (and not just Banner) in this next arc.
Anywhoo.- back to thread:
Thanos OWNS... a cat.
@Janus...
They already had a smart Hulk recently and the story was terrible.
Pak is Pak and WWH is gone. Waid Hulk is doing well and some if not majority of the Hulk fans is liking it. I don't get what the issue is. WWH was a sequence that came from Pak, his story, lets just leave it at that and move FORWARD with the Hulk. By the way, I like the armor idea...needs to stay.

Wolverine > Batman > Superman, exactly the way it should be.

I'm hardly a hardcore Hulk fan, but to me WWH was the definition of moving forward. The perfect incarnation of Hulk that wasn't a snarling dumbass and had a clever mind to go along with the mastery of his abilities. HOTM was terrible because it was a terrible story that was created to wank, which isn't necessarily bad but should have been mixed with the excellent work Pak is capable of like Planet Hulk.
Turning the Hulk back into this lesser being that hardly talks is just lazy writing imo.

I can see where you are coming from... I just dont see anything wrong with this version of Hulk, thats all. Hulk has numerous of incarnations and him switching back in forth doesn't mean the writing is bad. Hulk is bringing in more fans, so Marvel must be doing something right.
