Iffy writing aside (I mean seriously, he's not being a very responsible parent), I haven't thought that Superman is weak. They're consistently putting him up against really strong enemies, and apart from the whole "how can we make Lois and son play a part in this issue", he still really hasn't been pushed to the limits yet.

Eradicator heals from it but still.
Booster takes HV from Zod, Eradicator, Ursa and Lor Zod simultaneously.
