i thought unchained was actually really good, at least the chunk of it i read. you're right about his mystery obsession, but that sh!t usually works for me. it's part of the reason i like him. thing is the build up rarely pays off, but that's the same with a lot of writers. i feel like if they hook you, they've mostly done their job even if the ending isn't as good as you might have hoped. imo stephen king is a master of that particular skill--awesome build up, usually terrible or underwhelming endings.
Yeah, his endings fall flat. I mean...Metal was...what? I think he ended it like that just to have the plot device of "source wall broken". No Justice I think wasn't even...meant to have an ending?

I was mostly underwhelmed by Superman Unchained because I really like his Batman/Swamp Thing [i.e. good single character driven stories]. High expectations and all that. It's a good Superman story...you should read it to the end, lol. And the ending to this one is actually good...

i like snyder a lot, though metal.... i do like some of the ideas that sprang from metal, but the actual series itself was pretty turrible.

Why do people like Snyder?

American Vampire was good up to a point and Court of Owls, though an excellent idea, had mediocre execution.

I never understood the appeal of a what can only be described as a second rate Morrison or an edgy Johns hmmm

Second rate Morrison + edgy John's is his appeal I guess.

👆

i really liked wytches and the wake as well and american vamp was one of my faves in the last couple decades tbh. i thought court of owls was very good--i like his batman quite a lot. i think he's had a lot more hits than misses. can't say that about more than a handful of writers nowadays. /shrug

Goddamn.

For reference, the sun is generally 99.9% of the mass of the entire solar system. In our case, it has 1,000 times the mass of Jupiter. Or, in easier terms, 333,000 times bigger mass than the Earth. So they practically moved a whole solar system at speeds that the villains couldn't even react to - while the sun was exploding.

The feat is insane.

And save for four Earth Lanterns, Kilowog and Salaak, rest were all rookies.

The feat's impressive, but it was assisted. none of them alone could replicate that

Holy Crap!!

👆

Even if we assume they all contributed equally [which is stupid, given we see some were literally failing due to the sun being yellow - that's how big of a rookies they were], the force each would have to produce individually is still faaaaaar above planet moving - and that''s not even getting into the 'exploding sun' and 'too fast to handle' part.

One of the biggest 'group GLs cheese feat' feat since they contained the galaxy-wiping explosion in SCW.
