Strange vs. Elder God:

That must be out of continuity becuz strange lost his power

It was in the past. He's depowered in the same issue. Second issue Waid invents a new race

Bendis reads like he's parodying himself.

That page reads like the work of a highschool kid doing his homework and desperetaly trying to increase the word count.

We could do an experiment in which we strip Bendispeak from a Bendis comic and we try to figure out how mediocre it ends up being. It isn't as if his plots were sheer gold anyways.

Damnit there's a She Hulk inage where she's punching, and it's the worst depiction of a punch I've ever seen (even accounting for the Kirkesque double hammer fists). Bran would love it. I saw it, thought of him, then forgot to post it and now I can't find it....

As bad as bendis could be, I actually enjoyed Siege.

Bumping this gem...

Best. Dialogue. Ever.

Now DC fans finally understand how we felt when Bendis was writing Avengers.

Siege was below average, imo. Marvel did a string of horrible events.

Siege could've been much better if they murdered more Asgardians and didn't focus on the crab so much.

Fear Itself and Original Sin were probably the worst events that managed to kill the interest of KMCers in new comic releases.

What about the Skrull One? That was bad, too.

The Valkyrie mini after Fear Itself was better than the main event XD

Secret Invasion, while bad, didn't do so much damage. Probably because it was followed by Dark Reign.

The Fearless or something else?

Fear Itself had so much potential that was totally wasted, I still remember being hyped by the promo posters for each hero.

I actually enjoyed Siege except for the ending.

It's not like Bendis was always like this.

EDIT: IIRC I stopped caring for Marvel events after FI, the 2 after that were absolute abominable sit.

The last really awesome event was Shadowland for me.

True. His Ultimate Spider-Man was so damn good, for example.

Same here, yeah.

👆

It was never planned as a big event, maybe that's why it succeeded and had long lasting effects 😂 Oh, the irony.

Shadowland was indeed decent, Spider-Island was cool, Annihilation was also awesome. Most events from back then were still average at best aside from a few chose ones.

I'm kind of thorn about the Thanos Imperative though. It was better than anything else in which the Annihilators appeared, Chaos War and War of Kings, but I still remember it as being a middle-of-the-pack event.

Yeah, the Fearless was cool, sort of a Defenders mini with a grounded enough balance. I liked its premise.

Annihilation along with Civil War I are probably my favorite Marvel events ever.

I excluded the Spider-Man related events for obvious reasons since I'm a huge Spider-Man fan, so these and symbiote events get some extra points by default.

But yeah Spider-Island was nice, Jackal is also a villain with lots of potential.

In case you haven't read it I can recommend Carnage U.S.A. (and the Carnage mini before that) it's not really an event but a mini but certainly worth reading.

What would you say was the problem with Fear Itself?

Everything. Fraction in particular.

Tie-ins can't salvage the main series.
