I don't think Thor can lower his durability like you think I'm saying but he's definitely a character much harder to kill when he's pissed and fighting back. He has enhanced healing, and his vitals function very differently from humans.

Stabbing Thor in the heart or even destroying a vital organ (See Malekith turning kidney to glass) is a lot less effective when he's not letting you.

Literally not what I said.

Thor's damage soak and resilience is one of his most defining traits. He can't lower his durability magically to make himself easier to hurt (That's the Superman fanboy shtick) but he can definitely power through pain and damage to greater degrees if he's actually fighting BACK. This is a popular troupe seen even among humans. It has been particularly prevalent in the Thor series.
