I respectfully disagree with this.Personally, I would thought that instead of striking Thing from behind with such force to literally carve a hole through him, he could have easily knocked him to the side or sent Mjolnir around to his grip to defend himself from the onslaught or exhaust other options before going straight for the mortally wounding tactic. At least with Janet, it was confirmed by Iron Man that the energy leak coming from Janet was way too unstable and spilling forth with such frenzy that Thor's BFRing/"mercy kill" was literally the only valid option left.
And if we look at Sentry during Siege, Thor didn't even want to kill him initially and he had destroyed his home and killed his brother. It just seems to me that under Fraction, Thor is way too quick to go for critically maiming/outright killing his foes, to say nothing of his dialogue at times.
Perhaps Fraction will argue that ever since Siege, Thor was nudged over the edge and gradually became more willing to kill to avoid similar situations.
