In case you?re wondering who just told the vampire what to do, it?s Bootsie. Bootsie is one of the homeless people. One of Spawn?s best friends. He?s also an Angel in disguise. And consequently the vampire?s boss (seeing as how the vampire works for Heaven).

Issue #73:

Remember how that guy got a little bag of Spawn?s Necroplasm? Well, this guy gets killed/gutted. The necroplasm comes ?alive? and crawls over to his body. It merges with him and turns him into something else. A messenger.

You see, there are three main powers working in the universe. Heaven, Hell and the Greenworld, which is to say the spirit of planets, in this case Earth. The guy is transformed into a ?messenger? that will take Spawn (in the next issue) to Greenworld where he will ?converse? with the planet?s spirit?not to mention receive a ?gift?.

Anyway, this new creature, the guy merged with the necroplasm is pretty much unstoppable. Nothing can harm him in any way, but he can harm you plenty. However, he doesn?t kill, he just transports.

Now Spawn is going to receive the power-up I mentioned. And Bootsie is going to remove him from Greenworld forcefully, by using his angelic powers.

What this means translated (as we find out later on) is that Spawn is now pretty much made into the most uber empathy/telepath I?ve ever seen in comicdom. Whenever he closes his eyes he can hear every single thought and emotion of every single person in the world. He can use this to track anybody down, no matter what the distance is. He can read their minds and tell their pasts. However, he can?t quite ?control? them by using this telepathy. It has no offensive capabilities IIRC. But still, it?s INCREDIBLY powerful.
The second use of this power is that he has pretty much complete control of the surrounding landscape around him. You?ll see later in case you don?t believe me 😉

What Spawn does next is pretty unbelievable. He first teleports himself and Gramma Blake to the dead zone. There, he uses his own powers to turn her back into a young woman, then opens up a gate to Heaven. Gramma Blake sees her husband, and dances with him. (he also cures her of her blindness). The reason he does this at the dead zone is because that place is close to heaven. But yes, he has displayed now and before the ability to open up gates to other dimensions, such as Hell and Heaven, and will continue to do so.

Issue #80:

In the previous issues there was a wave of random murders. All were incredibly brutal, and all the victims had a weird stigmata on their bodies. They realize the killer is a young woman that heads a homeless shelter. Spawn decides he?s gonna ?talk? to her.

Issue #81:

This issue is low on Spawn feats. It shows how a normal, good boy from an American suburb picks up a gun one day and starts killing people in church. Apparently, all the murderers from the past few issues, such as the lady, the guy that shot twitch, this boy and others are being possessed by Billy Kincaid?s ghost into doing what they?re doing (hence the mark on their bodies). Billy is using his ?ghost? form to possess them, make them commit sins, thereby damning them to Hell.
