This issue isn?t really feat-worthy. However, is shows a lot of the inner torment Spawn goes through. Included in that is him seeing himself. Or rather Al Simmons.

I went through the task of posting pretty much this entire issue to show people that Spawn is an incredibly complex and intricate character. Constantly tormented by memories, shattered dreams, illusions, failed missions, powers that come out of nowhere, hellish tortures, and everything?

Spawn uses his powers to start a fire that swallows all the alleyways, everywhere around. The funny thing is this is magical fire. It only burns, erases and destroys things that were even remotely connected to Spawn.

Issue #87:

A guy is obsessed with writing a novel about Spawn and the effect of ?mass hysteria?. He stalks the alleyways, trying to find information and traces of Spawn.

Issue #88:

Another nice showing of Spawn?s empathic abilities. A little girl is forced to sit in her room by her mother?s boyfriend for three days. She?s afraid and sorry. Spawn can ?feel her feelings?. He zooms in on them and finds the girl without many problems.
And then?he punishes the bad guy Spawn style 😄

What?s important about this fight? That?s not THE Devil. Nor is Malebolgia. Malebolgia is the undisputed leader of a realm out of 8 in Hell. He?s one of the most powerful lords. Later we will find out that this guy is called Mammon. His power, area of influence and such are about a thousand times greater than Malebolgia. While it?s not really stated clearly if he?s THE Devil or not, there are many points indicating that he is the closest thing. And even if he?s not THE Devil, he IS the most powerful lord of Hell.

Issue #90:

An abandoned house with three guys, a knife and a dead stabbed girl. Spawn found these guys using his empathic powers. He uses his powers to force each one to tell their version of how things happened. He already knows how it happened and who did it. The only way I can think that?s happened is because he mind-probed them all (telepathy babeh).
In the end, he gives the knife to the last guy, telling him if he?s really innocent and the other two are guilty, he should kill them and he?ll be set free?Very Solomon-ic justice?

Issue #91:

In this issue, Spawn meets Mark. Mark is a 20 something year old guy, who happens to be a reject of society and a sadomasochist. He dabbles in the occult a lot. He attempts to use his occult-acquired skills of telepathy and magic to bind Spawn to his bidding.

Simply seeing Spawn flying around will give people nightmares for the rest of their lives shock

In Sussex, England (all the freaks are in England 😛 ), a group of 9 people (I think) have been doing a thing for some time. They gathered up, all lovers of thrills and of the occult. The idea would be that they have a ?lottery?. The one that ?wins? is hunted by the others and then eaten (cannibalism L ). In the end when there would be only one left, it?s said it would invoke Urizen, an ancient dark God. But we?ll get into Urizen a few issues later. The idea of the issue is how they chase the fat guy (that won the lottery), and then Spawn stepping in to punish them.

Issue #94:

Not much concerning Spawn in this issue. It?s pretty much an issue that touches on the subject of Cyan and her very strong connection to spawn. Mammon the devil visits her at night. He still has the scar Spawn gave him (during all the future issues he carries that scar with him, no matter what form he assumes).

Issue #95:

This is the first issue featuring Urizen. Urizen is an ancient dark God. He?s pretty much unstoppable. Nothing can destroy him. The only way to stop him is to contain him somehow. The last time Urizen escaped, it took the collective powers of Heaven and Hell (two dimensions) to stop and contain him. But the containment was relatively weak. A ritual can bring him back.

This issue is about two guys, Zabraxas and Abbadon, two demons that are ?gate openers?. They?re completely awesome (funny as hell). Anyway, they can open gates to any dimension at all. It?s their ?gift?. They?ve been hired by someone (dum dum dum duuuuuum) to open a gateway to where Urizen is trapped. They do so by performing a ritual.

Spawn doesn?t know exactly who they are, but he knows they?re demons. They?re quietly driving along the road when Spawn jumps in front of their car. They have an accident.
