But, I think one thing that sets these movies apart is the time they take to explain why and how this is happening in our world. And that makes the story that much more appealing. I aso don't think the over all message is one of the corrupt owning everything.

I'm not at all attempting to detract from Burton. I like his movies, most f them, and I grew up watching his vision of Batman and loved it. I simply think Nolan's vision is better and far more true to the story in the comics, while also leaving the goofy and unrealistic nature of the comics behind.

I watched it... and realized he mainly only used one comic as his reference to the film (Batman Year One of course) instead of all the others they mentioned. I blame Goyer for that somehow though... that b*stard!

But I was quite disappointed when I saw comics like the Long Halloween on the list of ones he used as inspiration but then saw nothing of it in the film... I mean was the Scarecrow supposed to be it? If so that is rather sad.

And yes, I know that's more than Burton did... but like I have said so many times before, even though Nolan put the research time in it still didn't compare to the style and direction of Burton's Batman. Which kinda makes me sad in the end... Begins had all the makings of a great Bats movie... but somehow it just fell flat with me. 🙁

Yeah... I'll believe that when I see it, so far I have not... in any way shape or form. Its going to Begins all over again... although maybe worse, if that's at all possible.

I will never understand why Burton's films are explained away as artistic liscense, but the much more realistic Nolan approach is considered to be far too much liberty taken. Neither are "by the book", but only one of them could plausibly take place in the world in which we all live.

Batman didn't kill in cowardly ways IMO in Batman 1989 or Returns.

And IA with the person who said Begins fell flat. It wasn't very exciting IMO it never felt epic but it had a way better script than the other Bat films did. And Batman didn't really kill the Joker in Batman 1989 he restrained the Joker to prevent him from escaping the Joker continuing to try to get away loosened the gargoyle and caused him to fall. Batman did intend to kill the Joker but the Joker ultimately did himself in.

uh turning the bat-mobile around and setting the guy on fire deliberately and dropping bombs in front of people when your life isn't even in danger-the batmobile is bulletproof remember? sorry but that's cowardly.

What is wrong with posting in this thread? i have a view of the movie....and i was not pleased, i think nolans batman had one thing going for it....new villains.......i dont care what the thread starter or his friends do, is it so hard to see negative opinions about nolans batman?

The suit is horrible
The batmobile was a joke
Gotham was portrayed as bland and without substance

Hows that for starters, and guess what? its only my opinion and thats it, i am glad they made a batman movie and i am glad it did well at the box office.....but since batman begins hit the shelves, i have watched all the other batman movies more than i have nolans batman.....i dont like so much realism....but hey thats me 😉

Agree! The above titles are excellent, you can't go wrong with Frank Miller's adaptation of the Dark Knight....it really explains why Batman's origins...as well as his character's development.

A sequel (in the comics) to TLH is Dark Victory by Jeph Loeb....but...

What I really would want to be done into a movie is Jeph Loeb's HUSH! ...but it would probably cost Bruce Wayne's fortune to produce it 😄
