You say that like the bible was something to believe in.

So, you are criticizing, and calling me arrogant for what I've not said? What was it that I did not say that was so arrogant? Can you quote that part that I did not say?

Your statement here clearly shows your BELIEF that the Bible is NOT something to believe in.

And it is for many people but not you.

Your statement insinuates that these people are wrong and thus have flawed beliefs and are flawed by false doctrine. You have not stated that their beliefs are inferior directly but your post shows that you believe that there IS something wrong with their way of thinking. If you don't believe that there is something wrong with your way of thinking then your believed superiority to these flawed thinkers is exposed. Is there anything wrong with your way of thinking?

When I first started posting here, I made a lot of threads that directly talked about my religion. If you want to find them, read them, and commit on them, then do so. I would love to talk about them.

Of course the bible is not something to believe in, from my point of view, why would it be? The Lotus Sutra is a superior teaching to the bible, and people who believe in the bible follow a flawed teaching. What do you expect from a Nichiren Buddhist? If I were to say, Christianity is the greatest and truest belief in the world, but I’m a Nichiren Buddhist, then I would be insane. However, this is not a personal thing. I don’t think I’m better then you; I think my religion is better then yours. Do you see the difference?

I do have one advantage over you; I used to be a Christian, but you have never been a Buddhist. I know both religions, but you only know your religion.

Youre not insane?? 🙄

Don't brake your back. 😂

HAHAHAHAHA. Only you would think like this. 😂

Astrology began as a form of fortune telling, which the Bible considers an occult, and at times, a useless practice. There is a great deal of astrology contained within the Bible. It should be no surprise to find they are also all based on astrology, all recognising One God.

'Cept that one time.

It was used all the time, but only considered a good thing if it came from the Hebrew god.

it was used to keep track of the seasons by using star patterns and giving them names soon after gaining stupid little fortunes b/c some one or something happen during that time.

from having good harvest, good rain, good hunting even wars happening during certain times of the year...

then you add costums of villages and tribes of how to prepare food, handle bodies and stories legends and presto you have the bible.

That's astronomy and it was developed because of the Bible (and the Koran) rather than causing them to develop. When you set your holidays on dates that change every year someone has to go out and recalculate them every year. In the middle ages people got sick of it and started working out ways to do it more easily.

sorry just finished a report on the development of math in the middle ages

a lil of column A and a lil of column B

I appreciate your offer to learn more about Buddhist beliefs and perhaps I'll learn more about the religion in the future. However I'm not out to say whether other peoples religions are true or false. That type of judgement would be opinion based inherently because religions are faith based. We cannot prove that we are right when faith is involved so calling another persons faith based beliefs inferior is arrogant indeed. Considering that your personal faith is yours alone anyway and as you stated subject to change I fail to see the superiority in anything except your self perception. As it should be, for nobody should feel inferior to anyone. It's confidence to think it and it's arrogance to say it. Not that I'm offended at all 😎 It's just that if the shoe fits put it on man! Don't say that you're not arrogant be proud of it!! Denial is ugly! 😮‍💨

What? No. I used to be a Christian, so I have something to compare. Also, I'm not talking about faith. I'm talking about basic philosophy of the two religions. Of course it is just my opinion, but that opinion is not based on arrogance, it is based on practical application. In everyday life, the philosophy of Christianity doesn't give you much. You have one or two great philosophies, like love and charity, but when compared to Buddhism it is lacking. Buddhism gives me tools to look at how I feel (like the ten worlds), and the power to change. For example, the main way to deal with problems in Christianity is prayer. In Buddhism, there is prayer, acceptance of responsibility, the Ten Worlds, chanting, and many more. In other words, as a Buddhist, I have more tools in my everyday tool kit, then I did when I was a Christian.

BTW you can learn these philosophies, and use them in your Christian life. They work, even outside of Buddhism.

I'm glad that you have tools that you feel are useful and I'm not adverse to checking out your toolbox for anything useful ( I love analogies 😄 ) but there's no need to suggest that I or any others have tools that are inadequate. I've read alot of your posts and I have to say I've agreed with you on quite a few points. We won't agree on everything however and I believe it does take away from a persons humility when they assume that every disagreement is caused by the others inferior beliefs. I can surely vouch for the credibility of my beliefs even if others have come to believe that I am wrong. You converted to Buddhism from Christianity for your reasons and a Buddhist will convert to Christianity for their reasons. Neither persons beliefs can claim superiority however for they are all based on personal opinion. How is it anything but arrogant to say that something that you can't prove to be superior, is superior. But like I stated earlier arrogance and confidence are closely related. It shouldn't alway's be perceived as offensive. 😮‍💨
