I've read alot of your posts and I have to say I've agreed with you on quite a few points. We won't agree on everything however and I believe it does take away from a persons humility when they assume that every disagreement is caused by the others inferior beliefs. I can surely vouch for the credibility of my beliefs even if others have come to believe that I am wrong. You converted to Buddhism from Christianity for your reasons and a Buddhist will convert to Christianity for their reasons. Neither persons beliefs can claim superiority however for they are all based on personal opinion. How is it anything but arrogant to say that something that you can't prove to be superior, is superior. But like I stated earlier arrogance and confidence are closely related. It shouldn't alway's be perceived as offensive. 😮‍💨

Do you think war is bad?

War has it's negatives and positives. If the civil war had not happened I might have been born in slavery. It cost many lives however which was negative for the families of those that died. I do prefer cooperation with others to war myself but I do realize that war is something that can't be avoided as others will bring it to you against your will. I do think war is bad.

Ok, I agree.

I'm going to give you a choice. If you were to move to another country, for whatever reason, which one would you pick?

A: A country that is at perpetual war.

B: A country that is at perpetual piece.

If I were single it would be cowardly to avoid the opportunity to promote peace in the country that is in war. I would have had to choose A. Since I have a family I could not endanger them nor abandon them by choosing A anymore. I would currently choose B.

Interesting point, but lets assume that you cannot change A or B.

Which country would you consider to be superior, and why?

B. The reason is because there is nothing positive about hatred which is needed to fuel war.

Are you being arrogant?

Maybe. I don't think so but you may see some way that I am. Maybe it's because I didn't clarify that the hatred of others is the fuel that war needs. If there is something positive about hating others then I'd like an example.

I don't think you are being arrogant, but you think I am. You see, Christianity is at war, and Buddhism is not. That alone, to me, makes Buddhism superior, all by itself.

Oh yeah, that's not even a tiny bit arrogant.

Sorry, but I don't get what you mean.

I'm pretty sure you don't get to declare war for Christianity.

Oh, I'm not doing that. Christianity has already done that. You could argue that it is symbolic, but I would counter that symbolic war is still war.

Great quote. Who said it?

A chap named Hermocrates.

To me it makes the Buddhism you're describing seem neutral and neither superior nor inferior.

I don't think you're very arrogant at all, truly. 😮‍💨
