Another one of Christianity’s insanities has to do with the end of the world and Jesus’ second coming. For 2,000 years they have been waiting without satisfaction. The King James Version of Matthew 28:20 reflects that view.20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. (Matt. 28:20 KJV)
The world will come to an end. The Word of God doesn't say when. People who try to figure out when are wrong.

The “end of the world” implies some kind of calamity like a giant meteor or a nuclear war. If something like that happens, one’s faith is not going to make a difference.
Of course it will make a difference! It will determine what quality of existence you will live in the hereafter.

The end of the age refers to an astrological age within the Great Year.
True. But that's not what is referred to in the bible.
Just because the mayans referred to the end of the Long Count as the end of the world, doesn't mean that's what the bible was referring to. The bible is talking about the literal end of the world as in 'planet smashing cataclysm.'
