[B]I personally am torn on this issue.. first of all it is free speech and the European press outlets have the right to say or print whatever they want, but at the same time they should have respect for people and their beliefs. My first reaction was why would someone in their right mind want to draw or print an offensive picture like that in the first place. And then i got to thinking that if this same cartoonist would have drawn an Anti-Christian or Anti-Semitic picture would the paper have run it? And i honestly believe the answer is no,
punishments in other religions r much more worse than in Islam.
eg. the punishment fr adultry in Judaism is to stone the man n woman until they die whereas in Islam,it is only to whip them 100 times
n yeah, even if it says that Muslim made those pics where is the proof that they weren't traitors as they r so many ppl in the history of Islam who claim to b Muslims but they actually rn't.thay just want to harm us
all in all : it's blasphemous in Islam to depict the Holy Prophet(sallalahu alaihi wasallum) n 1 thin i don't understand abt u ppl is that y the heck r u ppl wastin so much of ur energy to figure out how looked rather than listenin to the message of Islam.
n yes ,it is true that whole of the world will come under Islam n that will take place when Jesus himself will spread Islam's message when he'l come back n then there will b hereafter
These cartoons like cursing the prophet so it would not be forgiven by all Middle Eastern people.
I guess Denmark and the countries who supported Denmark deserved this reaction as a result of publishing prophet Mohamed cartoons.
Even USA supported the Arabians so this was a nonsense thread.
Finally, Never publish anything about prophet.
I agree with maham. Islam is the best and the last religion because of written when the times prophet lived.
yes ,it is true that whole of the world will come under Islam n that will take place when Jesus himself will spread Islam's message when he'l come back n then there will b hereafter😂 😂
Even USA supported the Arabians so this was a nonsense thread.ehh actually they said it was unwise to publish the cartoons yet they aknowledge the right of freedom of speech, so they kind of leaned back and actually have no stayed neutral on this matter, until the mob burned different embassies in Syria, then the US backed their allied Nato countries whose embasies got burned?
I agree with maham. Islam is the best and the last religion because of written when the times prophet lived.you whine about lack of respect for your prophet yet you show no respect yourself for other religioins with this islam is the best crap
eg. the punishment fr adultry in Judaism is to stone the man n woman until they die whereas in Islam,it is only to whip them 100 timesoh how humane🙄 , as in chrisitanity you get no punishment except the emotional ones .
Nah the root to all evil and idiocy is religions , the events about the outrage against these cartoons just emphasise that
Originally posted by mahamI guess you have a lot of traiters in Syria and Iran. I think it depends on the sect whether it's considered blasphemy to draw mohammmed and other prophets. The Sunnis follow that rule more than the Shias and other sects. They don't make cartoons of him but they do draw pictures of him and put them in their homes.

the issue for me is respect...i honestly feel the most childish thing in the world is prejudice, whether it is an issue or religion or race or sexual orientation or age it is just a disgusting thing.. over Christmas while i was home i saw a commercial for the US Army, (for whom let me say i have the most respect and appreciation for) and they were portraying the enemies as typical Middle Eastern Muslims, now why couldnt they have been portrayed as white men and women? How about 90% of European countries that hate America? o but they dont wear head scarves or turbans so they cant be the enemy right? 😐

Because that's not the reality right now.
originally posted by ibleedyankeebluyou need to get your facts straight, 90 % of European countries do NOT HATE U.S, many of the European countries have extremist left wing fraction that doesnt like the US but they are a big minority of the population. Most of western Europe are actually allied with the US through Nato, What people do tend to react to towards the US over here is that many of the U.S citizens that get to express them selves through media are ignorant morons........... people like that if it aint in their backyard they havent heard of it

My father was killed as a result of the Fedayeen operations when I was eight years old. He was hailed by Nasser as a national hero and was considered a shaheed, or martyr. In his speech announcing the nationalisation of the Suez Canal, Nasser vowed that all of Egypt would take revenge for my father's death. My siblings and I were asked by Nasser: "Which one of you will avenge your father's death by killing Jews?" We looked at each other speechless, unable to answer.
In school in Gaza, I learned hate, vengeance and retaliation. Peace was never an option, as it was considered a sign of defeat and weakness. At school we sang songs with verses calling Jews "dogs" (in Arab culture, dogs are considered unclean).
Criticism and questioning were forbidden. When I did either of these, I was told: "Muslims cannot love the enemies of God, and those who do will get no mercy in hell." As a young woman, I visited a Christian friend in Cairo during Friday prayers, and we both heard the verbal attacks on Christians and Jews from the loudspeakers outside the mosque. They said: "May God destroy the infidels and the Jews, the enemies of God. We are not to befriend them or make treaties with them." We heard worshippers respond "Amen".
My friend looked scared; I was ashamed. That was when I first realised that something was very wrong in the way my religion was taught and practised. Sadly, the way I was raised was not unique. Hundreds of millions of other Muslims also have been raised with the same hatred of the West and Israel as a way to distract from the failings of their leaders. Things have not changed since I was a little girl in the 1950s.
Palestinian television extols terrorists, and textbooks still deny the existence of Israel. More than 300 Palestinians schools are named after shaheeds, including my father. Roads in both Egypt and Gaza still bear his name - as they do of other "martyrs". What sort of message does that send about the role of terrorists? That they are heroes. Leaders who signed peace treaties, such as President Anwar Sadat, have been assassinated. Today, the Islamo-fascist president of Iran uses nuclear dreams, Holocaust denials and threats to "wipe Israel off the map" as a way to maintain control of his divided country.
Indeed, with Denmark set to assume the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, the flames of the cartoon controversy have been fanned by Iran and Syria. This is critical since the International Atomic Energy Agency is expected to refer Iran to the Security Council and demand sanctions. At the same time, Syria is under scrutiny for its actions in Lebanon. Both Iran and Syria cynically want to embarrass the Danes to achieve their dangerous goals.
But the rallies and riots come from a public ripe with rage. From my childhood in Gaza until today, blaming Israel and the West has been an industry in the Muslim world. Whenever peace seemed attainable, Palestinian leaders found groups who would do everything to sabotage it. They allowed their people to be used as the front line of Arab jihad. Dictators in countries surrounding the Palestinians were only too happy to exploit the Palestinians as a diversion from problems in their own backyards. The only voice outside of government control in these areas has been the mosques, and these places of worship have been filled with talk of jihad.
Is it any surprise that after decades of indoctrination in a culture of hate, that people actually do hate? Arab society has created a system of relying on fear of a common enemy. It's a system that has brought them much-needed unity, cohesion and compliance in a region ravaged by tribal feuds, instability, violence, and selfish corruption. So Arab leaders blame Jews and Christians rather than provide good schools, roads, hospitals, housing, jobs, or hope to their people.
For 30 years I lived inside this war zone of oppressive dictatorships and police states. Citizens competed to appease and glorify their dictators, but they looked the other way when Muslims tortured and terrorised other Muslims. I witnessed honour killings of girls, oppression of women, female genital mutilation, polygamy and its devastating effect on family relations. All of this is destroying the Muslim faith from within.
It's time for Arabs and Muslims to stand up for their families. We must stop allowing our leaders to use the West and Israel as an excuse to distract from their own failed leadership and their citizens' lack of freedoms. It's time to stop allowing Arab leaders to complain about cartoons while turning a blind eye to people who defame Islam by holding Korans in one hand while murdering innocent people with the other.
Muslims need jobs - not jihad. Apologies about cartoons will not solve the problems. What is needed is hope and not hate. Unless we recognise that the culture of hate is the true root of the riots surrounding this cartoon controversy, this violent overreaction will only be the start of a clash of civilis-ations that the world cannot bear.
Re: Insults to muslims or freedom of speech?

Recently a large Danish newspaper (Jyllandsposten =The Jutland Post) published a series of drawings of the muslim prophet Muhammed. You can see some of them here http://www.uriasposten.net/index.php?p=2624
and here http://nyhederne.tv2.dk/baggrund/article.php?id=3293352These satirical drawings was a reaction to the fact, that no Danish artist wanted to illustrate a childrens book about Muhammeds life
According to Islam you may not make images of the prophet - so since Jyllandsposten decided to do so regardless, not only Danish but now also muslims from the rest of the world have reacted with dismay.
This is their perogative, if anyone offended Christian religious symbols or national symbols we'd see dismay and outcries as well.
The newspaper insisted, that the drawings were published as "a reaction to self-censorship, restrictions on freedom of speech, and injustice and murder on critics of islam, such as has happened in Holland."
Now Jyllandsposten is not the most liberal and tolerant of newspapers to say the least. It's full name is Morgenavisen Jyllandsposten (The Morning Paper The Jutland Post), which we often call Morgenfacisten Jyllandspesten (The morning fascist The Jutland Plague).
So their motivations might just as well have been to stir up intolerance between the muslim community in Denmark and "native" Danes.Things seemed to quiet down during the fall, until a religious party from Pakistan interferred and put out a reward on the heads of the artists.
Now many Middle Eastern countries are boycotting Danish goods, and I am trying to figure out if this is truly a religious or a politically motivated reaction.
The newspaper has NOW apologized...
What are your thoughts on this?Me? The west has boycotted many countries and regimes in the past over political issues. So Middle Eastern countries are in their right to boycott Danish goods. Should the paper have abstained from insulting muslims in the first place, since it seems to be their whole intend to begin with.
Should the Danish Prime Minister apologize?
You forget that their is no such thing as "speech" anymore in this world. Papers, magazines, all of them have some form of criticism about them. Rarely do we talk of "the growth of things". Today is an age of evil towards one another, they are simply capitalizing...
Somebody said islam is crap if you do not read Kuran, do not speak like that. If i wanted, I could show a lot of unreal things in Christianity. So do not curse the religion. We are discussing the thread about cartoons not Christianity or Islam.
People understand this do not make fun of Islam and its values. Do you feel good if somebody said bad things about Christianity and made cartoons like Jesus was cut by Laden. Do you like it???
May be you are not. But we are sensitive. This is our faith.
And the people who believe in Islam logically can't see the solution by suicide bombing oneself. They are just stupid and powerless in their mind.
Somebody said islam is crap if you do not read Kuran, do not speak like thatno, it was said that "dont come with the islam is the best crap", a whole lot different than islam is crap.
We are discussing the thread about cartoons not Christianity or Islam.so why bring this into it then?
Do you feel good if somebody said bad things about Christianity and made cartoons like Jesus was cut by Laden. Do you like it???Some christians might have taken offense of it, me I wouldnt care for most religions shoot itself in the foot all the time with their statements christianity as well as islam.
So as I said they shoot themselves in their foot, but dont get me wrong I have no lost love for christianity either it sucks just as much as islam.
And frankly I dont f*ucking care how faithful people are, maybe we non religious should react to the same way as to things we dislike..like religions and their bullshit sanctuary places of worship or whoreship as I like to call it

Salaam Alaykum Darkman87.
Firstly, I have read Al Qur'an many times, I have also read the Hadiths and studied Islam as a religion and through the history, objectivly, so many things I am about to say, I say because I have taken time to read and understand your religion.
Christians, Jews, and Hindus in particular are on daily bases insulted and bashed for their religion, being called devil wirshipers and such around Islamic world. But as I have already said, I cannot seem to recall any incident of a militant Jews/Christians/Hindus/Buddhists/Baha'i/Mormons etc, standing in front of any Islamic countrie's ambassy threatning the lives of all Islamic world, can you?
Publications of cartoons is a freedom of speach - my freedom of speach IS to say what i think about certain religion. I can say anything about Moses, or Jesus or Krishna or Buddha for that matter, and I can do so with the confidence that 'fatwa' will not be proclaimed against me.
Can we do the same with Islam? No.
As I laready also mentioned, the violence displayed by the people around Islamic world is absolutely shameful. Why is it that people can freely make fun and critisise any other religion, without fear of being beheaded or killed, but not islam?
Many people around islamic world have made disturbances around their country over a cartoon they have not seen published by a peper they have never read, in a country they can't even point out on the map.
lil bitchiness
I agree with all what you are saying. I do not understand the people who makes fun of religions as you do. There is a war between religions Ýslam and Christianity.
That is what I think of this situation to turn into madness while people can come up with logical solutions. And I am sorry for those who cannot think of that way.
I look like a spokesman of Ýslam here and i do not like it. People are free to think about anything but religion is different it is something you are attached with forever.
Muslims are too sensitive because of US, UK so forth. Anyway as a consequence, do not upset muslims so they do not do anything to you. All religions lead you to God as a result.
