Or God, yes. That's what Pascal's Wager requires, after all. "I know you don't believe in God, but it would be to you advantage if you started." I wonder if there are people whose mind actually works that way. "It would be to my advantage, eh? Alright, give me a second ... okay, done. I believe in God now."

If god started interfering with all our lives we would eventually just depend on him and do nothing.
But see, that's the thing - I find it terribly hard to believe in something for which there is no proof and that never, ever does anything. As such I'll believe in people, who I know exist and actually can actually be responsible for some of what happens. I mean, I wouldn't vote for a politician no one had ever seen, and if he did get elected and continued not being seen and not doing anything I would continue not to vote for him, regardless of the chance he might one day do something.
Same thing here I fear. If God wants to throw his hat into the ring I think he should present his credentials and some proof in what he says - I don't think if he existed he should be allowed to stick a big beware of the God sign on the global gate and expect us to be scared if we CAN'T see the God. If we NEVER hear him bark. If we are forever climbing over the fence and never once does he make his presence known, and we can't find any evidence he was ever behind the gate, not even a water bowl with Yahweh on the side. Ever.
And besides, there is a difference from helping out your creation and caring for those you love and being a slave to them. After all, no one says parents shouldn't do anything for their children because they become dependant and never do anything. I mean at the very least if he didn't want to actually help us then he could have, I don't know, thought twice before inflicting every form of plague, famine and the like on humanity over the years.

Why should people belive in God? Look at the state of the world at the moment.
Damn good point!
If god would exist, this is how I see it: god has a basement full of worlds, like a collection of aquariums. One of these is our world and god just happened to forget to feed and clean ours for the last 4000 years.
Hey, time flies!

If he's real, then they'll be pleased when they die.
If he's not, then nothing else can happen to them.
If that cracks your nugget, consider all those variations of the same religion (catholics, protestants, shiites, muslims) all having faith in the same heaven while having no remorse at all in killing eachother in this world. How will they ever coexist for all eternity in this heaven they all will go to?

This belief (Christianity) makes people feel like there is something wrong with them. If you get rid of all that judgment, then I would agree with you.
what??? where did you get that from? i dont feel i have anything wrong with myself 😠
