What a class match. Both teams played to win and I liked that. I think the real loser at the end of this was still Sweden, I wouldn't want to face Germany right now as hot as they are and with the home field and all.

What a game in the midfield for Ljungberg, that man really is world class. Wish he would of scored tho, that yellow card on him was bollocks, lost pts with that, f*ck! Joe Cole was MOM is this game. He's been the most consistent midfielder for England thus far, wish I would have had him on my fantasy team today. Damn!

Good to see good 'ole Sol back on the pitch even if it was just for a bit. Made a couple of key stops and I was hoping he would get on the end of one of those corner kicks.

that's a very good point, i had the same feeling about Ballack and Germany until today..but i still think that Sweden cannot afford to play without Ibrahimovich..

allback works much harder than zlatan, who rather tries to stroll through games. allback has done no harm tonight

Some of Sweden's best matches in recent memory were without him and I saw it again today. I think you're pt is spot on, he does play lackadaisical and I believe his ego also gets in the way of the team.

A miracle to be here?, No, we just came by plane."
Trinidad and Tobago Coach Leo Beenhakker.

Football is not played on paper, it is played on a pitch. This game is not mathematics and in football, two plus two very rarely equals four - it's usually three or five."
Trinidad & Tobago coach Leo Beenhakker. (Bhavin Shah, England).

he's a card lol

Reporter: Have you ever seen any player like that? (referring to Peter Crouch).
Roque Santa Cruz: "Yes, in the NBA."

Englands defence was shit...
2 Sweden goals that should've been absolutely routine.

I think someone said 'bloody' on the radio as well yesterday. If you bear with me I'll get you an e-mail address and you can fire one off. Literally or figuratively.

i found it offensive - can you live with that? or have you got an answer for everything?🙄

anyway...

Sweden gave England a great game today. We seemed to step it up just a little bit, but still - it's nowhere near good enough. And, we still couldnt beat 'em which i found hilarious near the end, so fair play to the sweds😛 we're not ready for the Germans at this stage, but Ecuador are going to be no pushovers. Argentina are still my favourites performance wise, but i'm sure that Brazil can only get better😉

Great first half from England, then they did what they always do when they have a lead. Honestly when are they going to learn?
Rooney adds a different dimension up front and hopefully he is close to 100% now because we need him in the knockout stages. Owen hasnt really done much but the fact that we are thin with strikers makes it a bigger loss. I actually like Hargreaves in that holding role, he played well and provided cover when needed. Lampard was disappointing again, i think Gerrard is better suited to link up with our strikers.
Our defense was hopeless in the 2nd half, Sweden could have had 3 or more goals because we couldnt deal with corners. The 2nd Sweden goal was like a blooper reel, 3 defenders missed the ball - inexcusable at this level.
Ecuador wont be easy but i'd rather them than Germany. The Germans are peaking at the moment and England have a way to go to get to that level.

On a side note props to T&T, they did themselves proud and played some nice football.

It's stupid to play Gerrard, Lampard and Beckham. You need a holding midfielder like Carrick, although I don't particularly like him, to free them both up.

Beckham's method of play just cuts them out. It might as well be him and Crouch.

Yes, yes I have.

Hargreaves played brilliantly today. At least Crouch junior can stay on the bench, which is even more than he deserves.

Rio proved he's England's classiest defender by miles. It became hoof and hope once he left the field.

Owen appeared to forget the correct way to walk.

Most obviously of all, England resorted to what I like to call 'England Style', IE the erecting of the shutters, which ironically always fail to work.

Joe Cole is a greedy fool. I truly wish that shot hadn't gone in.

True, because now everyone will be saying "Look what he can do."

He reminds me of those kids in school who used to think they were really good, running around commentating on themselves.

"Cole! Still Cole! Cole's beat another!" etc. The commentators said "He's enjoying himself", as if the World Cup was there for him to have a good time.

I haven't seen the game yet, as it was on at 3am my time, and I had to be up at 6am. However, perhaps playing with only one striker will be to the midfield's benefit. If Sven plays a ball-winner in a midfield five, then it would probably release Lampard and Gerrard...

Either way, the reports I've read about the game sound disappointing. I hope England can improve.

As for not taking Defoe or Bent, Sven is a fool. How could the whole world see the maddness of his decision, but he couldn't. The man doesn't even have the balls to play Walcott. Sad man.

Maybe you are right, but it was still a nice goal.

Ian Wright is a blind-eyed patriot, and the rest of you are just putting forth rather lame opinions. Not so much Deano, he just doesn't think Ronaldo is up to par, he hasn't been as quick to rabidly write the man off. Mr. Savonty is an idiot who evidently has problems with...well, anything, and you aren't exactly on top of your logic game are you?

Raul has been past it for years. In those years, Ronaldo has been a prolific goalscorer for club and country.

He has more goals because he was the Shevchenko of Spain. He was never, ever dropped, he was always fed the ball ahead of any other player. Goals are goals, but he's never played as good or as impressively as Ronaldo when he is on form (not necessarily in his prime). Being passionate about your country doesn't mean anything, at all. Beckham could fly the flag all day long, it doesn't mean he should be there ahead of Lennon.

You know this how? Oh, you don't.

Oh so he's a glory fan? To think, people called me a glory hunter, then Savonty ditches Ronaldo when he's no longer at his best. That's exactly what VVD was talking about with the English press. I like Ronaldo and I'll always admit when he doesn't play as good, but I'd never just stop liking him off the back of two games.

Being a big fan doesn't make you a knowledgeable fan, by the way. He could be Ronaldo's secret boyfriend, it wouldn't mean he knows more or that his opinions are more credible.

I like Rooney, I think he's a great player, but just like everyone else with a remote bit of "promise" in this country, he gets overpraised and overrated.

I don't think he'd walk into the Brazil side and for that matter, Ronaldo at his best, or even in 2002, was making chances for himself out of thin air by beating three, sometimes four players at a time. He's not just an out and out striker.

I think you'll find I am on top form when it comes to logic, you just can't see it because mt views are opposed to yours, it's easy for someone to insult the opinions of others, simply because they don't go along with what you say, and my opinion is just as good as Deano's, infact, it's the same, and yes Ronaldo is giving that impression, because he simply doesn't look arsed for one reason or another

Never insult my logic, I am a very intelligent person, especially when it comes to football knowledge and opinions, it's ashame you can't see how stupid you sound 99.9% of the time

He would walk into the Brazil side, because let's face it, Brazil aren't overrun with world class strikers at the moment

What does Ian Wright being patriotic got to do with him saying Ronaldo has lost it?? Are they even in our group??

leaving out Ronaldo...

Robinho, Adriano, Fred, Ronaldinho can play upfront, Nilmar, Ricardo Oliviera to name a few.

You believe you're on top form for logic, I believe every post you make seriously contradicts that. It's nothing to do with insults, which is the way you keep trying to weasel out rather than thinking.

Your opinion is worth crap to me, purely because time after time you prove you know nothing. You rely on instinct and blind prejudice.

You keep telling yourself that, buddy. Maybe, just maybe, it'll become true one day. "You can't see how smart I am, look at me, I'm really smart. You though, you're stupid."

Haha, funny. You're funny, and stupid, but funny.

And you believe you are, I quote:

"A very intelligent person, especially when it comes to football knowledge and opinions"?

This proves you wrong. You think you've got great football knowledge, you, nobody else except maybe Deano because he likes you. You are passionate with your beliefs, that doesn't mean you know more than anyone. That much is evident from your posts, which are devoid of any discernable logic or intellect.

His opinions aren't exactly well thought out. He can hardly call anyone embarassing can he? What's his England record like?
