Of course it is complete ignorance! How can it be logical if you haven't even seen the movie? How can you say you haven't made 'no real comment'(sic), if you have just commented on it?

Make some sense, boy.

--Oh? A review can oftentimes tell the same as seeing the movie itself. Besides, I was being general. It's my opinion only.

Brokeback mountain isn't a movie, its a pile of dead ninjas in front of Chuch Norris's house.

"It was just meant to make a lot of money from gay people who will buy or watch the movie. No other reason."

Your opinion only? 😆 You haven't SEEN IT, how can you have an opinion? Oh yes that's right! You read a review. 🙄

No, not really. Reading a review is not the same as watching a movie. Unless, of course, you believe being vicarious is the ultimate way to form an opinion...

A person should never give a comment unless they have experienced it for themselves........Just like in the movies.........second hand is just parroting.

This is a thread oriented on the effects of "Brokeback Mountain." Not homosexuals in general. The purpose is solely of that. Not to bash homosexuals. That was just my opinion. You can go against it if you want since thats the effect of having a conversation of something of this nature.

The Bible is an essential guidebook to have a healthy Christian walk with God. Just because I follow what I believe to be right doesn't mean I have no mind of my own. I have debated the topics I believe in time and time again in previous years of my life but have come to the understanding that this is the way I want to live.

how can you talk about the effects of a movie you've never even seen

Bare back mountain is a gay love story, and its impact is being felt everywhere, including daytime soap operas, now the son of Lily and Holden on As the World Turns, is freakin gay, all other soaps on the other channles had queires, now CBS has jumped on the bandwagon.

its a shame, that America always has to follow a trend.

who better to hate on gays than a guy who watches soap operas 😉

Well since "Brokeback Mountain" has already been a huge success and is promoting the liberal homosexual movement across America by showing the side of homesexuallity one supposedly cant help.

I thought since its fame and the things its already accomplished for its movement it should be discussed in the General Discussion forum to talk about the other aspects of the movie.

I have have not seen the movie but from what I read about the story and various synoposis's I've read I can tell that acting wise and storyline wise it may be quite the movie but it also may very well be good ol fashion homosexual propoganda.

Maybe you should see it? Despite being a cinophile (as in a big fan of cinema) romance/drama wouldn't be my favorite genres. But I will enjoy a good movie regardless of the genre. I found Borkeback to be a brillient screen play, wonderfully shot, acted, scripted and so on.

And what makes it a bit of "homosexual propaganda"? Are the truckloads of poor to good quality heterosexual romance flicks that come out heterosexual propaganda? The fact is there are homosexual people in the world. They love, have romances and so forth. Why not make a movie about that? It's just as valid and real as any heterosexual romance.

The obvious message the film is trying to convey is that its alright to be a homosexual because the feelings you have cannot be helped and it trys to make people feel sorry for them because their lives are torn apart by a love they supposedly can't prevent.

The classic theme of literally thousands of heterosexual romance stories. Forbidden love. Love overcoming all. Romeo & Juliet anyone? Yet you make it sound so negative despite it being a common narrative theme. Or is it simply because the women has been replaced by a man?

And what, we aren't supposed to feel sorry for them? We should be angry at them? Hateful towards them? What is the Church line? Something to do with abominations and death? Deliverance through Jesus indeed.

I am personally against the movie because I am a firm believer that homosexuality is wrong and the movie trys to justify and give glory to something that deserves nothing of the sort. Not only is it just a movie about homosexuality but a very popular one as well already receiving multiple awards and nominations. And we all know its going to reign at the oscars.

Fortunatly not everyone holds such views. As I said above there are many homosexual couples in love out there - and they are just as legitimate and derserving of stories being told about them as anyone else.

One doesn't need to be assured that their feelings towards the same sex are natural and ok but that they can be delivered through the name of Jesus Christ.

*Sigh* I suppose you would have prefered a movie set in the 18th century where they would be shipped of to some Church facility were they would be treated terrible and fully indoctrinated about how they are wrong and sinful and vile and all that? Like actually happened to people all those years ago? That kind of film would have a better message?

Also the film doesnt even depict a positive story about homosexuality. It instead shows a story of two men who have lied and cheated on their wives with someone of the same sex. Not only does this promote homosexualuty but also fornication and both are an abomination to God's word.

Tell me your views, once again, on all those romances and dramas and other genres that have similar narrative arks but men and women. You would naturally be against them to I assume? Would it have been more acceptable if he got divorced first, and then went to the one he is happy with? I suspect that this has to do with realism. Making it real. Love, relationships, they don't always run smoothly. I don't think they are trying to condone "adultry" here.

Actually that is not the purpose of a review. The critic is merely giving his opinion on the quality and value of the film - not telling you what happens, how it happens and so forth. Unless the little summery is enough for you. But trust me, a synopsis is not, I repeat NOT, the same as actually seeing the movie.

🤨 Because its about 2 gay guys packin' eachother--obviously!

Not too mention--it promotes adultery.

So any heterosexual romance then is heterosexual propaganda yes? Is that how the logic works? You see you missed my point. A heterosexual romance apparently is a legitimate film, but if it is a homosexual romance it is instantly propaganda? I don't think so.

And who said it promotes adultury? Just because adultury occurs does not mean the director is sitting in his chair thinking "yep, this will get people adulturing all over the place. It happens in plenty of movies - just because it is part of the plot, part of the narrative, does not mean they want people to "adulture" if anything usually when it is part of the message it is a warning. So it happens in real life, hence drama will include it and investigate it as drama is a reflection of reality (the genre that can say this best.)

I mean the Downfall surrounds the final days of Hitler in his bunker... does it promote being a Nazi? Silance of the Lambs is about seriel killers... does it promote being one? Is the director trying to get little kids to go out and eat people? No. No. No.
