"Brokeback Mountain"- How its effected America.

what the hell is a mental choice?

Lifestyle choice. I choose to buy pizza from Pizza Hut rather than Dominoes. I choose to watch certain movies, play certain video games, and so forth, and each choice is made in my mind. My sexuality was a choice as well, as it is with anyone. There is no proof that homosexuality is genetic. It's going to be something that echoes from choices made, and reactions that happen. It's purely psychological.

so again, by your logic, everything that can't be linked to genes is a choice.

There is no reliable proof either way but I for one did not decide to be attracted to members of the same sex, did you decide to be attracted to members of the opposite sex?

yes, i decided to be left-handed so i could piss of guitar instructors, overtly religious people, and fencing and Muay Thai opponents, and picked out where i wanted all my birthmarks and freckles to go in the womb. When I was 9, i decided to develope allergies just so i could bug the shit out of my parents. and when i was 13, i decided to be a heterosexual cause it was easier to maintain an erection around girls and they smelled nicer. I especially decided to be attracted to redheads cause i decided that rufosity, being a genetic trait that was probably interbred from neanderthals would serve any children i might, but wouldn't want to have well if there was ever another little ice age due to the maunder minimum.

and now i'm deciding to sleep

Brokeback Mountain had two men who had a relationship, got married to women, then still had sex with one another. That promotes cheating on a vow that used to be sacred. The whole movie reeks of a life that is constantly spent lying to someone that you made a vow to. It's not romance. It's deceit. Huge difference. So, the movie promotes cheating on your wife, and to make it worse, cheat with another man! THAT is the horrible part of it.

The biggest lie ultimately was believing they could live and be happy as heterosexuals. They denied their true feelings. Would it have been better, in your opinion, more acceptable, more justifiable, if they never got married and just chose to be together from the outset? Or would they still be bad men? Would they be damned if they did, or damned and damned if they didn't?

And I still would say there are many, many movie, books, artworks that have a similar theme - falling out of love with one and into love with another. But few condone it when it leads to cheating - but it happens in the world, so why can't it be a part of drama? I find it hard to believe you would damn every film ever made that has such a subplot - especially when few condone it and many have such a subplots resolved in a way that makes the adulterer unhappy (as in they don't get away with it.)

And to make it worse? Why is it so much worse for a man to cheat with another man then if he were to cheat with a women? I mean cheating is cheating, since when have their been degrees of wrongness? - "yes honey. I cheated, but it could be worse, it could have been with a man instead of some girl I met in the office, see, not to bad."

Oh my! Flash back. You should have a look at the homosexuality: chosen/genetic thread. Such arguments were raised on more then one occasion, and usually shot down with all sorts of logic and scientific proof. Sexuality is NOT the same as choosing to go to one pizza place instead of another. But I'll pose the question I posed there: Tell me how a person chooses to be gay. When I was old enough to feel attracted to someone, it was to females. I never sat down and chose it. It just was. Now tell me how I go about it so that I am sexually attracted to guys, because for the life of me I can't see a way I can change my sexual orientation. Maybe you could tell me how old you were when you sat down and decided whether you were going to like men or women, and what made you choose as you did.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that you're retarded. You're insinutating that homosexuality is a genetic thing when it's purely psychological. Do your damn research before you mock people.

I believe that it was satire intending to highlight the illogical nature of "people choose to be homosexual."

As I said, the Homosexual: chosen or genetic thread deals with exactly that kind of claim and counter claim, so many posters are familiar with it. Maybe you would be interested in debating there, there are plenty of posters on both sides of the debate.

And I'm guessing you've done a fair amount of research? Reply to Imperial Samurai's post, I'd sure like to know how you decided to become a heterosexual.

I'm sorry if I don't consider listening to Christian supremacists. And please, shove the name calling right up your ass. that would be some good research.

Give it up dude, it's already been "proven" in the other thread that homosexuality is not chosen.

It's an accident, a genetic mutation, they are born that way.

Which is cause for great hope, since it isn't a way of life that people like or love, but are just stuck born with, nobody will object when genetic science is able to change a baby's genetic structure before it's born, effectively eliminating homosexuality, which itself is just a genetic foul-up that people have no control over.

(kind of counter-productive for the whole gay movement, as it makes it less of a lifestyle that should be accepted, and more of a freak occurence that some people can't help being born with.)

Although I'm sure this post will be lambasted by people who want it both ways:

"It IS genetic, no one chooses it, but gays did not become gay through freak accident. They just are. It's wonderfull, it's beautiful, it's love... we should all be gay. Sithsaber, you and others like you who don't believe in homosexual marriage must really be gay! All straights are really gay....blahbLaBLAHBLHA...."

(they always win, even though the evolution they believe in says that they would have died out, as men copulating with women to make a child is the only "natural" type of sexual intercourse, and the only way for the human race to continue....)

Just stick to what you believe bud, and let them stick to what they believe. One group is wrong.....

Time will tell.

Well, isn't that sweet. An accident. A freak of nature. But, nature doesn't exist, does it? At least in your opinion.

don't worry, I pick up on your sarcasm.

Well since "Brokeback Mountain" has already been a huge success and is promoting the liberal homosexual movement across America by showing the side of homesexuallity one supposedly cant help.

I thought since its fame and the things its already accomplished for its movement it should be discussed in the General Discussion forum to talk about the other aspects of the movie.

I have have not seen the movie but from what I read about the story and various synoposis's I've read I can tell that acting wise and storyline wise it may be quite the movie but it also may very well be good ol fashion homosexual propoganda.

The obvious message the film is trying to convey is that its alright to be a homosexual because the feelings you have cannot be helped and it trys to make people feel sorry for them because their lives are torn apart by a love they supposedly can't prevent.

I am personally against the movie because I am a firm believer that homosexuality is wrong and the movie trys to justify and give glory to something that deserves nothing of the sort. Not only is it just a movie about homosexuality but a very popular one as well already receiving multiple awards and nominations. And we all know its going to reign at the oscars.

One doesn't need to be assured that their feelings towards the same sex are natural and ok but that they can be delivered through the name of Jesus Christ.

Also the film doesnt even depict a positive story about homosexuality. It instead shows a story of two men who have lied and cheated on their wives with someone of the same sex. Not only does this promote homosexualuty but also fornication and both are an abomination to God's word.

You americans need to get off your ass once in awhile 😐...

I feel so sorry for people that are gay and hate being gay 🙁 poor souls...

There is no trait for red hair color. Red hair color is a mutation of the genes for blonde hair color.

Since naturally occurring red hair color is not something one chooses but something he is born with, perhaps parents with the help of scientists, should change the genetic structure of a child before he is born, effectively eliminating red hair color altogether.

After all, red heads are genetic freaks, the victims of a "genetic foul-up" that they have no control over. Never mind that red hair color is a completely innocuous trait, or that some people like having red hair color, or that others like people who have red hair color. Nope, red heads are genetic freaks, and instead of accepting that they exist, we should take the first opportunity to eliminate them altogether.

You are a disgusting human being.

For homosexuality being such an evolutionary disadvantageous trait, it certainly does not stop nature from producing a consistent percentage of us.

Right,.... because having red or blonde hair is the same as going against a person's biological functions and having sex with the same gender. 😐

And it isn't "nature" that produces you, its environmental circumstances in your early childhood development.

Nature, by its very definition, would not support the copulation of two members of the same sex of ANY species, as they would all die off.

@sithsaber408
You really want to genetically alter children to stop homosexuality? 😑

Dude, if that happened, the entire world would become one big China! There's nothing wrong with it and it keeps the population from overflowing as it had since the dawn of time. It's not like th entire world's becoming gay, so I would not worry too much for humanity's survival. And many animal species have homosexual tendencies and they haven't died out.
