Sora(Kingdom Hearts) vs Link(Legend of Zelda)

Started by BloodRain116 pages

Yeah, and not much better than normal.
Doesn't matter, he'll become even slower in that form.

Happy 100 Pages guys. :'😉

There are nine links
SS no title
Minish
4swords. Now here"s where it gets complicated.
HoT was the OoT MM SC and the skeloton guy in TP
HoW was WW and PH
TP was hero of light and maybe 4Sword adventure
ALttP LA and oracles was another
Loz and AoL was one too
and finally we got the conductor of ST
i just use HoT.

So Aura and I have been arguing over who was a better swordsman, Sora or Link.

Thoughts?

If masks are allowed, how about the Stone Mask?

Edit: Link's swordsmanship is hard to qualify. He's a generalist with any weapon, but primarily wields a sword. Though given his limited moveset, his expertise is kind of an informed ability.

Fawk you that's my thoughts. ._.

I do not look forward to arguing this topic.

Then again, if we both stay out of it, would make for some nice entertainment.

Well Link has recieved sword training on occassion iirc, whereas I get the impression Sora just got a keyblade and started swinging. Has Sora ever recieved training?

But then Sora seems to be more 'superhuman' in his fighting, being more agile and flying and stuffs.

Sora practiced fighting as a kid. Because apparently the kids of Destiny Islands don't know any way to kill time other than beating the shit out of each other.

One time I walked up behind a friend of mine, jammed my arm between his legs, slamming against his groin, and then lifted him into the air with that arm.

This is relevant.

Thr hero's shade from TP knows some pretty nifty moves but mostly link seems to just stay calm and stick to the basics while sora seems to just make it up as he goes. He's not bad but his style seems less formal mostly offense with little deffense.

... O.o

I wouldn't say their sword fighting skill is that far apart.

I would.

Sora's actually swordplay ability consists of wide-winging, open attacks with gratituous amounts of wasted movement. He wields it like a baseball bat, relying only on his power to win. Were he to actually fight an opponent equal to him in all ways but swordsmanship, with the opponent being superior, he would be crushed.

Link's fighting, though not exactly reminiscient of European swordplay in its entirety (Due to, as I explained before, not having wrasslin'😉, is straightforward, precise, he just cuts you, doesn't waste movement.

So it's efficiency vs. Raw power.

I'd say its more difficult to gauge the skill level of fast/strong characters. Bleach for example. We know they're highly skilled with a blade, thousands of years worth of experience, yet it doesn't seem so when their fighting.
Although its not /really/ them, Sora managed to wear down Squall about 15 mins after first getting the Keyblade. He had no speed or strength as of yet. Also Sephiroth compliments Sora on his skill, and he's listed in-game as an unsurpassed/greatest of swordsmen. Roxas also looks quite skilled.
Edit: Actually, the reason he may not look skilled or tactful is /because/ he has the use speed and strength to his advantage.

Besides, what you said describes their chosen style more than their skill. Their skill would come from their training and/or which skilled people they have beaten. Neither have any formal training (besides being taught a move) and have both beaten swordsmen (Leon and Seph for Sora, and Knights for Link), so there isn't much to say who has the higher skill.

Link is a great swordsman, but if he goes in with just a sword and shield he's gonna lose. Luckily dudes a walking armory filled with enough gear to handle anything( including spiky haired speedsters)

Hmmmm.
