If he gets offered a contract in the proximity of a Zito deal, then I think he'll stay in Toronto, but 200 million? That's forty million more than any other pitcher in the league, he'd be stupid to turn it down.
He will still love Toronto.I don't expect him to a Blue Jay next year, but if they don't get anybody worthwhile in return, then he will probably sign with Toronto. He already gets paid big bucks and I don't think a 200 million dollar contract is going to change his mind.
IMO, its gonna be either the Phillies or nobody. He has the option to test the FA market this offseason and I heard he will if he is still a Blue Jay, so that would make the Jays definitely try to get something for him instead of him leaving and getting nothing in return.
Amaro said Drabek is not "untouchable" and could still be involved in a trade. I think I would rather trade him in the deal than Happ, because something doesn't feel right about trading a young player who is 7-0. Happ has been great. Drabek is supposed to end up being really good too, but Happ has at least proved himself.
Plan B for the Phillies is Cliff Lee. Which I wouldn't mind at all.

He doesn't have the option to test FA this year. I'm pretty sure he's got a year left.
Darth, 200 mil was a made up number. I would assume offers would be as high as Sabbathia.
Originally posted by Smasandian161 still seems high to me. Like I said, I imagine he'll get somewhere around Zito's 126, depending if he gets hurt or not before then. I think I would sign him to like a five year deal, anywhere between 90 and 110.

He's a much better pitcher than CC. He can easily command that type of cash.
No offense to anybody who is a baseball fan but it's pretty ridiculous the amount of people who underestimate Halladay. Top three pitcher in the league easily.
Every year he is Cy Young candidate (barring injury seasons). If he played for any American team, he would be more well known.
90 mil for Halladay is a steal. Your basically saying he's a bit better than AJ Burnett.

You're right, I heard it wrong on ESPN. I knew he has another year on the contract, but I thought he had something in the contract that would make him be able to test the market.
Originally posted by SmasandianHe's going to be 34 years old during his first year under that contract. You want to give him 7 years, 161 million? Yeah, you go ahead with that. And the reason why CC and Johan got so much money was because they were 28 and 29 respectively when they signed, not because they were or are better pitchers than him. Hence me saying 5 years, 90-110 million is fair value, because Halladay would be getting the same amount of money in ratio to his years: less money because of less years. 5 years at 110 million is 22 million a year (5 years at 90 million is 18 million a year); 6 years at 137 million is 22 million a year; 7 years 161 million is 23 million a year. Santana and Sabathia are going to be 34/35 when their contracts end.

What about plan C Bedard?

I didn't see the 5 years part. Sorry, but I wouldn't be surprised if somebody gave him a 6-7 year contract. The way he pitches, I wouldn't be surprised if he was still effective in his 40's.
Yea Dewayne Wise was put in the game in the 9th as a defensive replacement and then made what will be considered one of the best plays of all time because of what it meant.
Buerhle now has a no hitter, a perfect game, and a world series ring. Might be the most average guy to ever make the hall of fame.

Well, the Phillies are refusing to send Drabek, so I think any deal between the Jays and them is already at a standstill.
there are as bad as the dodgers instead of making the team better and putting yourself in a position to get to the world series and possibly win it, they need to get rid of some prospects in favor of winning

He won't make it the Hall of Fame.
He has those three but if he makes it then the Hall of Fame is a joke.
