1) Take a look at all the natural disasters occuring at this moment. Over time they've been getting worse and worse.
no they aren't. We just have CNN, Fox News and MSNBC now. Natural disasters have not increased in strength or numbers from the past. The only thing affecting humans that have increased are humans living in areas that natural disasters affect and our knowledge of knowing of all natural disasters in real time due to the media.........both are human faults, nothing in nature has changed.
2) Industrialization has been killing the Earth for the last 150 years (pollution, chopping down more trees than we need)
pollutants are not killing the earth. There is a possibility of global warming but even that could not kill the earth......there are plants and animals both that live quite comfortably in the hottest deserts of our planet. I doubt the mean temperatures of our planet are going to rise by more than 50 degrees Farenheit any time soon....or in the forseeable future. Notice I said possibility of global warming. The earth naturally goes through cycles of warming and cooling......this is what brings on ice-ages, only to warm back up. Humans have not been on this earth long enough to record the natural warming/cooling cycles. Temperatures on our planet are warming, no doubt........but they were also warming long before humans ever stepped foot on our planet only to cool back off.....warm back up....cool back off..etc...etc. We may merely be in a warming cycle that will be followed by the onset of the next ice age.
as for the chopping down trees. That's horseshit. If we didn't chop down trees for timber there would be less trees than there are today as we wouldn't be planting new ones. We plant more trees than we will ever cut down....specificly so that they will be there to cut down for timber.
3) The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012 AD. This signifies the start of a new age (either through spiritual or physical means, no one knows yet) and could very well be true (the sun's position correlates with the Galactic Equator, the center line of the Milky Way, on both that day and at the beginning of the Mayan calendar).
It's just a f'n calender for god's sake. There have been many, many, many calenders used in the past....as a matter of fact, there are a few others that are still used. What makes the Mayan's so damn special? Oh yes, they must have been intellectually superior and more knowledable than we are today.......that's why we can't throw a stone of our back porch without hitting 4 Mayans in the head, right? You put so much stock into a simple calender.......trying to give it meaning that it was never given.......it keeps track of time.....that's it......same as the one sitting on your desk. When the calender on your desk ends, I assure you, the world will not end......you'll just buy a new one.

I'm not trying to relay this information in a pessimistc way, just to give knowledge about what's going on to everyone else.

CNN Headline News (current events)

1. Bad disasters have happened forever
2. We're slowly getting better with pollution.
3. Screw the Mayan calender, that's no proof.

I'm not saying their race is worthless , just their achievements.
