pollutants are not killing the earth. There is a possibility of global warming but even that could not kill the earth......there are plants and animals both that live quite comfortably in the hottest deserts of our planet. I doubt the mean temperatures of our planet are going to rise by more than 50 degrees Farenheit any time soon....or in the forseeable future. Notice I said possibility of global warming. The earth naturally goes through cycles of warming and cooling......this is what brings on ice-ages, only to warm back up. Humans have not been on this earth long enough to record the natural warming/cooling cycles. Temperatures on our planet are warming, no doubt........but they were also warming long before humans ever stepped foot on our planet only to cool back off.....warm back up....cool back off..etc...etc. We may merely be in a warming cycle that will be followed by the onset of the next ice age.as for the chopping down trees. That's horseshit. If we didn't chop down trees for timber there would be less trees than there are today as we wouldn't be planting new ones. We plant more trees than we will ever cut down....specificly so that they will be there to cut down for timber.
Here's the dealio: pollutants are not "killing the Earth", per se. It's highly unlikely that global warming will ever wipe out life on Earth. Life has persisted through so many climate changes and mass extinctions that it's unwise to say that life will ever be wiped out until Earth is physically destroyed.
So no, we aren't putting Earth itself in danger by driving Hummers and cutting down trees. What we are putting in danger is ourselves. We know so little about what degree of change we as a species would be able to endure that it's extremely short-sighted to assume that just because life as a whole will be fine, so will we. The other thing is, even if we survive through drastic climate changes, I don't WANT to live a world where Class 5 hurricanes are common, coastal cities are washed away because of oceans rising, and glaciers are nonexistent. Don't all jump on me for being a wishy-washy environmentalist hippie *****, but I kind of like Earth the way it is now, what with snow and ice and trees and such.
Besides which, what would it hurt to stop producing such atrocious amounts of greenhouse gases? You are truly a selfish son of a ***** if you love your SUV so much that you won't stop driving it if the future of the human race might be in danger because of it. It's absolutely disgusting that there are people who deny global warming simply because it "might" not exist and they're too fat and lazy to just stop driving a car.
Your point about trees is completely laughable. Trees wouldn't just stop growing if we weren't planting them—what the hell are you on? Even if they would, which is an amazingly stupid thing to believe, we are cutting down FAR more trees than we are planting. We don't just cut them down for timber, we also burn them down to create space, which obviously doesn't denote replanting.
i can honestly say that i dont know if the end is near or not asnd nor do i care...the question u should be asking urself is how much fun did you ahve while u were hear....did u enjoy the time u spent alive...the world could end tomorrow and if it did would you be able to say that you ahd no regrets. Carpe Diem my friends
Why should "the end" be near??
There are no more natural disasters than "usual" we just hear about them from all over the world "brought to you, live by..."
Sure, we could be hit by an asteroid tomorrow without any astronomer ever detecting it... But then, that's bound to happen sooner or later (let's hope later so we'll be able to DO something).
Just today I heard on the news that researcher believe the AIDS-epidemic may finally be levelling off... Tons of relief aid is going to Indonesia...
Why not believe that things might actually get a little BETTER in the future???

Why the hell would it abruptly end just because man came along and got these things called brains and said the world was onna end...Doesn't make a whole bunch of sense to me...I think humans are just gossip FREAKS and it's just a bad rumour thats been told a little too many times to a couple of the wrong people.
i think the world is going to end in 2012 ther are way to many things pointing to it the bible code the mayans the chinese the hopi indians actually numerous indian tribes ive read some on it and i dont think its going to be the end of the world just the earth shaking off all the bad karma we have put on it and also a merging of dimensions the 3rd and 4th the 4th will coexsist with the 3rd dut not interact and vice versa it was also fortold as the christian rapture if you dont beleive me just search for 2012 on the internet

they weren't worthless, but yea i thnk the calendar is crap.. i mean they can see thousands of years ahead but cant see they are about to be killed?

Industrialization has been killing the Earth for the last 150 years (pollution, chopping down more trees than we need)
And as for the trees, it's not true. The companies that cut down trees for paper, etc. actually plant more trees that they cut down. It's the slow-growth hardwood rainforests we should be worried about, they took centuries to get to their peak.
Honestly I have secretly wished that the world comes to an end. Things are bad out there people. The media won't really portray the extent of it because they would rather shelter the American people from the truth. But take a look at what's happening from a non-partisan source and you will soon realize the severity of things

Well the world ending is hardly going to fix things.
