Humanity always said that the end was near since they exist. People always thought that the time where they live in, is the most important one, and that their current problems were the worst ones that ever happened. In other times, things were not easy too. Probably they were even worst.
Yeah, but those were predictions made by men carrying sticks and stones. Today they carry nuclear weapons and are far more agitated then those in the old days.
The end is closer then ever before

okay, forget for a moment that an ancient civilisation predicted the end of the world.
the earth has been around for a long time, and its predicted to last for a long time as well, so dont you think, considering how long its been around and how long it will be around that theres a chance that in some of that time something really really bad happens?
uhh, i dont assume anything, so wether it will happen or not, i dont guess, i will take it if it comes. but i think an end of our civilisation may not be such a bad thing.

(I was going to post this in the Religion forum, but I felt it belonged here since it doesn't go into religion all that much)1) Take a look at all the natural disasters occuring at this moment. Over time they've been getting worse and worse.
2) Industrialization has been killing the Earth for the last 150 years (pollution, chopping down more trees than we need)
3) The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012 AD. This signifies the start of a new age (either through spiritual or physical means, no one knows yet) and could very well be true (the sun's position correlates with the Galactic Equator, the center line of the Milky Way, on both that day and at the beginning of the Mayan calendar).
I'm not trying to relay this information in a pessimistc way, just to give knowledge about what's going on to everyone else.

Nuclear war is also just another way of scarring and controlling people. It takes a lot to trigger a nuclear war. Claims of destruction work because there are elements of truth to them...but our chances of survival are pretty good anyway. Most of the world right now is united in their desire to not have a nuclear war. I suspect our chances will continue to increase. Every nation with nuclear weapons has pretty much decided it isn't worth it to start one. Every nation without nuclear weapons is under the microscope of the nations that do have them.
Evolution is powerful. I'm betting life will probably survive as long as the earth does.

Yeah, "end of the world" is actually supposed to be "end of an age" which refers to astrology and some other seemingly irrelevant stuff.
